Carb Gasket template

After pulling the carbs apart on the xz400 I had to make a new pair of gaskets. It worked out easier than I thought.
Steps as follows:
Original scanned and template created accurately on computer. (Pdf attached and/or available on request)
Printed it out and stuck it on to a 0.8mm gasket sheet using artists' spray mount (this gave it just enough stick to hold it in place when I cut it out, but was still easy to peal off afterwards)
Bolt holes were punched out using an office hole punch (I pulled the plastic base off to more accurately see where I was punching the hole) But you can use the spur hole punch as shown.
The remainder of the smaller holes were punched out using a hole punch I had acquired from a leather shop.
The rest was cut out carefully using a sharp craft knife.

can i use this template for an 82 carb?

Yes, it appears to be the same as the 550. Print it out and cut your own gasket.    BDC
