clogged carbs...running it probably just circulated debris.  I'd start there.  Clean out your tank and install an inline fuel filter.

Hi Brewski and welcome to ROV!

Given that the bike has sat for a while it is also possible that the battery is bad too.  Places like Autozone and Pepboys etc can usually check your battery for free.

When you say it wont start, do you mena it just wont crank? Or, it cranks but just wont catch and fire up?

I agree fully with the suggestion about the carbs.  Also, check your fuse connections.  They can crap out after a while.

you also need to get a Haynes manual and probably the service manual also. Lucky has both for sale.

The Haynes has a trouble shooting guide in front that goes through the diagnostic steps for most problems.

Lucky's CD only has the 1982 Service Manual if I recall correctly.
