Connecting Digital Tach

I've been using a digital tach to tune my carb for years and now I find it necessary to verify my process with you pros out there. First of all, the digi tach has settings for 4 cyl., 6 cyl, 8 cyl, etc... I've just been using the 4 cyl. setting multiplying by 10 and doubling the total. If I see 65 on the tach, I know my RPM is 1300. I can't see any other way to properly get the reading for a 2 cyl. using my tach.

Second, I ground the digital tach to the NEG. post on the battery and I use a small spade connector clamped in the alligator clip for the positive lead and push it into the Gray connector from the TCI. This seems to be the easiest connection to give me an RPM reading and it matches up pretty well with the analog Tach on the dash. I know the gray wire on the TCI connects to the rear coil but the coils are a pain to get to.

Anyone have a better way?

Simple. Straight forward. Accurate.  What's not to like?  Cheers.
