cleaning up engine

Im trying to restore a 82 vision..The engine case is all oxidized..What is the best way to clean it up?

 :) Give the whole motor a clean down with a good quality brake and parts cleaner , wipe down with clean rags and use Autosol metal polish. It brings a real nice shine to aluminum,chrome,etc. However it does carry a wee bit of abrasive in it so don't lean on it to hard when you are doing chrome part's? ;)
