fuel gauge sending unit

since my vision has been in a shed for the last fifteen years the gas was low in the tank apparently enough where the sending unit got a lot of 'air' looked awfully corroded I thought I would have to find one. it had yellow crystals I could not read any ohms while moving it. for some reason I thought it looked like lime deposit so I got a bowl filled it with vinegar and used a paint brush to clean around all the moving parts and contacts. the sending unit cleaned up like new! ohms was like 4.7 to 120. anybody know if these readings are close?
