well thanks to motorplow i have finally put my heated grips on and it was a lot eaiser than i thought.  the right grip gets a little hotter than the left but thats ok i useally ride with the left down buy the engine

i mounted it to the side cover where you mentioned before. worked out really good except i used a wood bit to drill the hole and it kind of mared the plastic so ill have to try and fix it some how. you wouldnt even notice if i didnt mention it.

What kind of current do they draw ?

I am sorry, I do not know what the amperage is on the heated grips.  I can tell you that I do not see any voltage drop on my digital voltmeter, on high or low.  The heat comes from the resistance in the wiring under the grips.
