Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

'82 Vision, Pearl Orange finish, lots of up-grades!!!

:) Got a start on s3sriniv's '82 today... ??? First thing was a problem with the starter. Drained the oil and removed the starter from the engine. Opened it up to find it full of nasty black oil ::) yep, the original seal was kaput, as were the brushes. Stripped it all down and dumped all the parts into the parts washer for a good scrub down!!! Everything is all bright and shiny, blown dry with compressed air, laid out on the bench and ready to be rebuilt, with new brushes and seal (with spring insert), after work today ;)

That's average for a neglected , older bike. There will probably be a few more things to do.

s3sriniv,
Dont feel bad when I got mine it was in far far worse shape. Once the gremlins and cob webs are removed you'll be happily amazed.

I seen the bike and it looks pretty good. And it will run great once Tiger is done with it.

:) The brake caliper piston was really seized in tight... :o I normally get them out with 125 psi of compressed air but not this one >:(

:-\ So I tried the grease gun method ???

Replaced the bleed nipple with a grease nipple and put a bolt were the banjo bolt goes and pumped it full of grease...and out the piston slid...VOILA!!!

Washed everything in the parts washer tank, blow dried all the bit's and rebuilt the caliper...Refitted it to the Vision using 2 new bolt's/lock washer's, refitted the brake hose (oem!!) and after cleaning out the master cylinder and refilling it, I was able to bleed off the system quite easily. This Vision now has a fully functioning front brake system... 8)

Checked out and adjusted the rear brake, so that's working fine... 8)

I also replaced the two rear brake bar fasteners :o 8)

All the electrics: lights, signal indicators, brake lights, horn, etc, are working O.K... 8)

I need to fit a patch to the underside of the right oem muffler and sort out a few odds and ends and she will be ready to go home, very soon ... 8) 8) 8)

:) Although its not pretty  ::), the muffler patch was installed to the right side oem muffler.

I used 22Ga steel and pre-shaped it for the muffler, added a coat of Red RTV silicone (to the patch) and drilled/riveted the patch in place...VOILA!! gas tight 8)

Sadly, this system is not going to last much longer as both mufflers have the tell tale "expansion bands" around them, where they are rusting from the inside out...

Decent used OEM exhaust systems are getting as scarce as hens teeth. I sold the last one I had, to a Visionary in Holland, in 2005.  Be gratefull that MAC still makes them!  The OEM ones were around 600.00 when , last you could get them.
