Does any one know if the stock air filter is still available and about how much it costs?
Thanks!!

stock at dealer is around $22+
Uni at Dennis Kirk $25+shipping

I'm pretty sure the old 82 filter (without air box mod) has been superceded by the '83 filter.... but to be safe, order the 83 either way

The stock air filter is still avaliable from Yamaha at a cost of aprox $30.cnd. I run a UNI filter on both our visions and after they redesigned them they work very well & I recommend them.

You might try this idea. It seems to work well for me.

Probaly cost as much as stock air-filter.

Can't tell for sure, but that one looks like the filter for the non-modified airbox.  The one for the modified box is not perfectly rectangular - it has an angled side to clear the vacuum diaphragm.  Just wanted to let everyone know in case they were looking for aftermarket sources.  Personally, I'll take the oiled UNI.  It gives the bike a much 'throatier' sound & you won't need to replace it for a looooooong time.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

that hiflo is for an 82 w/o the airbox mod. they don't list an air filter for an 83.
the 82 hiflo air filter looks like it's made outta metal like the old oem ones.
the new 83 oem have plastic outters.

No need to worry about OEM cost or availability.  Adapt an auto filter from your local well stocked auto parts house.  I did, years ago, with no problems.  Will investigate further what I used and get back to the group.  There used to a thread about it, but it may have been lost during one of our hackings.  Cheers.
