Post by: breitert on May 22, 2020, 01:25:58 PM
Looking to see if anyone has one to sell for my 82 Vision.

Pretty much all Yam bike workshops have tools for it, and shim kits on hand too.
Then again there's a lot to be said for self-sufficiency.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply.  So I tried the local Yamaha shop in Dallas - no luck so far, only 1 mech on duty due to Covid and the young person in Parts tried to sell me the wrong tool.  And yes I like to do my own work, if possible.   Also an ex Yamaha mechanic told me they charge 5 hrs + for this job. I can see why as I had to remove the fairing, fairing frame, the right side of the main frame, & loosen the radiator...  (what were they thinking?) Will resort to having a tool made, if necessary ( I have the specs), but expensive.

Check farther down the swap shop. pinholz is making them for a reasonable price plus shipping. You would be lucky to find a dealer who would actually do the work whether they had the tool or not. The local dealer here, before he sold out wouldn't service a bike over 5 years old.
