Airbox Update

Can someone please tell me what the airbox update is for?  I have seen it mentioned a lot and am curious.

Yamaha added a vacuum actuator to delay opening the air flap at mid RPM. The purpose was to cure a hesitation (the infamous "Vision Stumble".

They had a retrofit kit, but I doubt its still available. I've seen people post reports of taping a couple nickels on the flap to achieve the same effect.

Mine came with the actuator, so I've never messed with it myself.
