I found a supplier of good windshield material

I called and got a price on a Lexan polycarbonate material called Tuffak. It's what they sell to M/C windshield manufactuers, 1t's NTSB rated. for a 2 X 3 sheet of 1/8 material it's $45, 3/16 is $56. a bit pricey, but it's better than the home depot stuff.

I'm close enough to pick it up if anyone want's, or they might even drop ship it.  for that matter, you probably could order it over the phone too.
