Would like to meet up while you are in the Denver area - schedule permitting!  I'll be in Oklahoma from Oct 4 - 11, so it looks doubtful.  I need to have Oct. 3 open for packing the truck with 3 telescopes, clothes, generator, fuel, food, etc.  That gives me just Oct. 1 & 2 for any free time during your trip.

Decided to do the starter fix as soon as the rebuild kit arrives, so my V will be running again by then.  A quick run along the Peak to Peak or up CO7 to Estes Park for some Smokin' Dave's BBQ would be great.

Thanks for the responses..

I will most likely get to Denver nearer Oct 3 or 4.

Been looking at routes... looks like 84 from the north then 80 west from Ogden.  I  know it is a slab drive... but I need to get to Denver most quick then head south on 70 to St George and hope I don't get into any highland snow.. or the south route if the weather is an issue.

Day in St George with Bro... then to Porterville, more family, then Santa Cruz, more family... then up 101  may try out my tent and rough it a bit.

All are welcome to join along..

I am taking my rebuilt R75 to Denver and trading out fro the R1100S to bring back to Alaska.  I plan to do some riding up north of Ketchikan next spring.  Like Homer, AK and the Cassiar Highway in May.
I know I will like the heated grips.

life is full of how to's.   :-\

I am talking to a local cycle'r  shop for ramp support.. I will let you all know how it works out..

Pic's to follow. From Denver..

Discovered how the Saudi's load and unload camels on Toyota p/u truck, should work for bikes even better. Carry three metal poles that tie together above truck into a tripod, hoist bike up and drive out from under it.   BDC

all good and practical suggestions... I was planning to get to a local shop and get help or a ramp.. maybe a couple of 2X6 and a sheet of 1/2 plywood cut in half.

Here's how I solve the loading problem, look around town and find a wall that you can ride off into the back of the pick-up.  (loading dock style)

Made it to Denver in 3 days... and now have the 1100 and heading for St George UT  tomarrow.
So far sunny all the way and no issues.. the 75 purred from gas up to gas up.. "Gertie" is now in my son's garage in Denver.

Madeit toPorterville, CA.. warm and sunny... no issues  some rain back in Mohave..am heading for Santa Cruz tomarrow.

So far an adventure... wish I was riding with someone... Am thinking about picking up a GPS as a guide.. I left the unit on the Gretie as it was hard wired in.

America is really beautiful...and the roads are really good.    Some places far and wide have the best steaks and red wine.

more to follow..

Hey Funk... it is way  off my route..
I am now in Santa Cruz and headed for Southern Oregon tomarrow.
I have to be in Seattle/Tacoma by Wed and visit some relatives near Salem, OR on Tuesday.  It is a daily trek and the country is always moving by.  Over the last 7 days I have been in 7 states.. WA,OR, ID, WY, CO,UT AZ, and CA.
Been a solo adventure and have been passed by many riders going both ways.

Tomarrow is Gold Beach or  Ashland...

UPDATE!    Been thinking about you all along the trail..

I'm  in Puyallup, WA.. and my journey and adventure is just about complete.

I left Santa Cruz and made it to Eureka CA, then Newport, OR, then Salem and here..
What a ride and I lucked out with the weather.. I have ridden 4K miles since October 1, at 1500 for the 750 and 2500 on the 1100.  Some rain showers in St George UT and Mohave, CA otherwise all sunny all the way.  Both bikes operated with out issue and I was very surprised at the average of +50 mpg on the 1100.  Both are as smooth as a Vision at 60.
Doing this trip alone was spiritually uplifting.. we live in a beautiful country with mostly great roadway.   I found it mostly friendly to solo motorcyclists.   The innkeepers were very accomodative.
So in the end it was WA, OR, ID, UT, WY, CO, UT, AZ, NV, CA, OR, and WA.    It was all scenic... but the most memorable was  the high passes in Colorado, and the Redwood Highway and Coast highway in California.

The worst was 15 in Las Vagas, the San Francisco/ Oakland Corridor, and I-5 Portland, Seattle/Tacoma.  None of that was fun traffic..

So, home again on Friday on the Ferry from Bellingham to Ketchikan and no biking for me till next spring.. I am planning to ride to Homer, AK  from Haines in May 2010.

Must be all that tailwind catching up to you!

Enjoyed following your journey.  Glad to hear you are home - safe & sound. (Even though the sound is the howling wind!)
