Post by: tremalzo on June 23, 2018, 02:30:58 PM
Yamaha XZ550 stroker build by Dutch Tuner Cees Fick, 80 x 84 bore/stroke makes about 850cc. Driveshaft drive has been modified to sproket drive.

Vey cool. Looks like some downdraft CV carbs but not sure what they're from? Jetting seems to be right based on throttle response anyway. Sounds good, nice work.

I think he needs some larger air filters. Looks rather restrictive for a 425cc gulp of air.

Based on the idle, I wouldn't be surprised if he was running stock cams.  It sounded quite streetable.  It's good to see our engine taken outside of the box.

I made a 650 out of one, but it was just bore.

I made the liners from aluminum pipe and them plated. The pistons were custom made by JE.

We used to have a wonderful company in Sacramento (Chromecraft) that would take on small unusual jobs, like building up a crank journal or surfacing and plating fork tubes.  No more.  Now they are an industrial focused business and no longer accept small jobs.  But if you have a fleet of heavy equipment that needs their hydraulic rams re-plated they are the place to go.  Sigh.

A lot of info about John Clemens' 650 cc vision engine in this thread.
