Title: Overloaded (melted plastic connector block) rectifier conector?

My regulator/rectifier has a connector block with four parallel flat connectors in a plastic connector housing. Wires are Black (earth?), Red (positive?) and a thin Brown (???). The plastic housing around the black connector is melted.
Does anyone know what might have caused this? Is there a known fix?

Hi Mike and welcome. That is a common problem on old current carrying connectors. Corrosion causes resistance which generates heat. I would be surprised if the connector with the 3 white wires isn't melted as well. You should clean all electrical connectors while you are in there.

Cheers. Thanks for the advice. I'll check them all and clean everything up and tighten the interference fits or use an alternative to carry better current. They must be underated for the current they carry, or perhaps just inferior connectors?
