Title: Mirrors for 1983
Post by: kevin g on May 30, 2020, 04:09:25 PM
I am in need of mirrors for my 1983 Vision.  I especially need the right one, it has a lot of sun damage.

Please let me know if you have some you will part with.

I have two pairs here in Australialand but they are also sun-damaged. I'm waiting on another pair to come from China but I fear the ship may have sunk.
I'm toying with the idea of attacking mine with wet and dry paper to refinish the plastic and then painting them.

How are yours going? Any luck getting some or will you be looking at a 'facelift' too?

I am considering a facelift.  There is a dealer in the USA that has a stash of NOS mirrors for $125USD each.  That is a handsome price to say the least.  If I decide to go crazy restoring this bike I might do it.

Are your mirrors from China a reproduction?  Can you send me a link?

The ones I am waiting on (link above) are similar to the ones I had on an XZ a very long time ago - I think.
Also, I mistakenly said China but they are actually (supposedly?) coming from Singapore. I'm pretty tired of waiting though so I think I will re-dress a pair of the ones I have.

For the full fairing models, the closest I found that is still available was the Napoleon AE Fairing Mount Mirrors.  They fit, but not really well and look kinda awful.  They are still available new from some places.  Mirrors are the same as the Seka Turbo so that might help you find some second hand ones.  you can get reproduction rubber from http://www.bdesigns.ca/ (http://www.bdesigns.ca/) and spraying the mirror with bedliner makes them look like new, though it does obscure the logo.

For nekkid bikes, Yamaha gave left and right opposite threads, so many generics will not fit unless they say Yamaha left/right thread.  You can get adapters to reverse the thread http://motomox.co.nz (http://motomox.co.nz)
