Title: Additional gauges and stuff
Post by: injuhneer on August 06, 2020, 04:54:47 PM
I have been reading a lot of stuff on the forums. I could not find a reference to the oil pressure range of these engines. Has anyone measured this? I don't want to install a 100psi gauge if it only has 25psi.

In the process of considering a voltmeter and an oil pressure gauge I looked at many photos of gauge mounts but could not find anything I liked. Consequently I am working on a mini-gauge pod (3d printed) to fit the strut portion of the handlebars. I'll post photos when I have a prototype done.

For a volt meter I have used a (Shhh) Chinese sourced waterproof LED guage which I have mounted into my headlight housing. Works a treat and cost a couple of dollars.

I was looking that those too. They are inexpensive and work well. I am wondering how they will hold up to sun exposure over time. There seem to be quite a few small digital panels but none appears to be for exterior mounting (weatherproof). More of an automotive dashboard mount.

I have also been looking at mini-gauges (I like the small form factor). Most of these are mechanical meaning I'd have to run a capillary from the engine to the gauge on the handlebars for oil pressure. I am sure the line could be routed correctly to reduce/prevent abrasion

No takers on the operating oil pressure range?

I tried to find a oil pressure spec, but couldn't find a reference anywhere

Try motogadget  (https://motogadget.com/)for some spendy but amazingly nice waterproof panels
The Motoscope Pro supports oil pressure 0-120psi
all for only €359.69

Thanks for looking. I will make an adapter and check it.

I've fitted an oil pressure gauge, the maximum pressure I've seen is 80psi.
At 5000 rpm it usually settles to around 50psi.
At idle I get around 20psi
