If your bike has high mileage (mine has 80000 km or so), you might want to check your intake vacuum readings.

Mine were down around 4 inches of Hg, the bike was hard to start, and eventually wouldn't idle under 4000 rpm. Compression was ok though.

The second rings are chamfered to generate vacuum and they were worn almost flat.

Anyway, vacuum is easy to check.
