Title: Tire Ratings? 56H etc.
Post by: Cdnlouie on May 11, 2005, 08:19:03 PM
Got a quick question for the tire gurus on the significance of the "56H" etc. that appear after the 100/90-18 on tire designations?

I know the "H" is the Speed Rating. H-Rated for speeds up to 130 MPH.

56 is the load rating, I can go into depth if you want and the higher the number the higher the load carrying ability.

That's what I was looking for, the load rating.  Thanks for both responses.  If you have the time give me the low down on the load rating.  I suppose it does have some relationship to the number of plies the tire is constructed from (and many differ on the side wall in particular).  So I am interested in hearing the long version when you have a chance.
