I don't know if this is one of those the best kept secret or I'm just the last to know. But I just recently purchaced a manometer type of tool called a Carbtune form an outfit named Morgan in the UK. Here is the link:

It cost about 43 pounds or $80 US and they take Paypal. I have to tell you that I had my carbs synconized perfectly in about 10 minutes. There's no mercury or fluids involved. It also comes with dampening inserts that virtually stops almost all up and down pulsating effect that you get. The bike is now running smooth as silk. It couldn't be any easier to use.
I used to pay the dealer $60 to sync the carbs my bikes, so I think this is money well spent. If you intend to keep your "V" for awhile this is a must have tool as far as I'm concerned. Has anyone else had any experience with this tool?

I almost got one of them too. I think Aerostitch has a digital one for v-twins for about the same price. I may save for that instead. However, Lucky's carb sync tool worked fine for me. ;D

i have an old set up from volkswagon- it has soft rubber gaskets that just sit on top of the carbs, then natural suction from the bike seals it to do carbs. have to have entire top of bike clear to use it, but it works nice , and since i found it at a rummage sale, it only cost me 20.00
Sync the carbs on my second "V" tonight wow its running soooo nice. There's nothing like it when you get these bikes setup. It's great, no stumble, they are idling well, excelerate smooth. It's taken a year of tinkering but I think I have both of them running the way they should.
So now if I can just keep a deer from running out in front of me... had a couple close calls recently.

Course a couple of Vaccum gauges, a strip of metal to hold them and tubing isn't really that expensive on it's own...

Got a carbtune last spring too. I have the same experience. No more then 10 minutes of work and the bike runs great. The carbtune is far more accurate then the gauges of other makes.
