Title: 25 Year Celebration Call!
Post by: h2olawyer on May 10, 2007, 09:56:14 PM
The property management folks are ready for me to give them the whos & whens of everyone attending.  She didn't mantion anything about deposits.

The Condos are set up like this:

1 BR x 1 Bath - Queen, Queen sofa-sleeper (4 people)
2 BR x 2 Bath - Queen, 2 twins, Queen sofa-sleeper (6 people)
3 BR x 2 Bath - Queen, 4 twins, Queen sofa-sleeper (8 people)

Total Cost:

Hi Country Haus

1x1 $85.00 per night total 5 nights w/ tax $387.60

2x2 $115.00 per night total 5 nights w/ tax $524.40

3x2 $135.00 per night total 5 nights w/ tax $615.60

(4th night free included in price)

Yes, we get the 4th night free!   ;D  (Crestview Place is same deal but there are fewer units available.)

Please send me a PM or email telling me when you will arrive, leave and what lodging type you want.   I want to get the list to her on Saturday, but she knows there may be more stragglers.  I'll probably put a hold on an extra 2x2 unit to hold the late responders.  If we have more than 6, we can hopefully get another unit or there should be something available at another nearby property.

Thanks for your assistance!

H2O

P.S. I will post a list as the names come in.

I have a good idea of who has shown interest.  VisionMeister sent me the info quite a while ago.  Just need to dig through my messages & find it again.

Thanks for the PM, Don - looking forward to putting a face with the name!

So far, the confirmed list includes:

h2olawyer - 1 bed -- 6/17 - 23
ProfessorRex - 1 bed -- 6/17 - 23
inanecathode - 1 bed / partial duration (early week)
VisionMeister - 1 br + fold-out sofa 6/17 - 22
supervision - share with VisionMeister
don_vanacek - 1 bed 6/17 - 23
kwells - 1 bed / partial duration (late week)
coilXZcoyle 1br + fold-out sofa 6/17 - 22?
glennw - 1 bed? 6/17 - 23
Ron McCoy - 2br + fold-out 6/17 - 22
Visionless - share with Ron McCoy
QBS + wife

Those I think may be coming, but not entirely sure what sleeping arrangements or dates of attendance are needed:

Blake?
GBranche?

I apologize if I've either omitted a potential attendee, added someone who can't attend or misplaced the info you sent over the winter.

I NEED actual names, phone numbers, # in your group and dates ASAP!!!  I'm submitting a partial list this evening and will let them know there are others likely to be added.

We have the potential for at least a dozen Visions in attendance!  Please make all efforts to attend!  Gonna be FUN FUN FUN!!!!

For non rider family members, there are tons of things to do such as the Georgetown Loop Historic Railroad, River Rafting, Fishing, Alpine Slide, Mountain Biking (even lift served so you can go all downhill), Golf, Rocky Mountain National Park and general hiking or sightseeing.  The non-riding activities can be arranged as necessary.  Even those riding may want to take a day or two off and have some different fun.  I know I might want a break from all the riding.  The Georgetown Loop RR can be done as a break during a ride over Berthoud & Loveland Passes.

I will probalby try to pop in after work early in the week and head out in the late morning to get to work if that is possible with the rooming too...I work 2nd shift so I'd have to come in probably around 9-10.
Title: Re: 25 Year Celebration Call!
Post by: h2olawyer on May 12, 2007, 10:39:01 PM
I can work around most anything.  I'll likely be taking a 2 br unit and inanecathode will be there a few days early in the week.  That will leave a twin bed & sofa sleeper (as yet) unoccupied at that time.  This may change as I get firmer numbers, but I'll make every effort to have a couple extra sleeping spaces available on any given night.

I have a couple friends from here in town that will be in & out as well, so it may end up being one 2 br unit used as a 'transient hotel'.  :D

Just sent an email to the reservation folks.  Have reserved 2 1x1 units, a 2x2 and a 3x2 so far.  May ask for another 2x2 or 3x2, depending on how many more decide to show up.  Also gave them an option to put me in a 1x1 or 2x2 and have beds available for those who cannot make it for the whole week.  Call it the "Transient Unit".   ;D

I have most names of those attending, but I would appreciate all attending the party to send me a PM or email telling me your real name, the names of those in your party and a contact phone number.  The property management folks requested that info.

Getting excited as this plan unfolds!

So far, we are set up with several units at Crestview.  That condo has underground parking.  If there's a problem with needing more 1x1 units, they can move us to Hi Country Haus.  There is only 1 remaining 1x1 at Crestview.  VisionMeister & Supervision requested one & coilXZcoyle requested one.  If VisionMeister & Supervision don't mind adding a couple people to their unit, they can share a 2x2 and we can stay with the covered parking.  We have Mr. & Mrs. Ron_McCoy & Visionless & family in a 2x2 unit.  Then the remaining group in a 3x2 so far, with another 2x2 & 3x2 on hold for at least a week.

Here are links to the condos:

www.vacationsinc.com/condo_crestview.htm (http://www.vacationsinc.com/condo_crestview.htm)  (first choice - covered parking)

www.vacationsinc.com/condo_high_country_haus.htm (http://www.vacationsinc.com/condo_high_country_haus.htm)  (second choice - no covered parking but more units available)

If you have any questions please contact me!

Hopefully we'll have covered parking, I don't want to have to expose anyone else to the debauchery that is my Vision cover. (It DOES protect against 2x marble sized hail, apparently!)

At least you have a cover!  Since mine's been a garage queen her whole life, I've never had the need to cover it with anything other than an old sheet.

You got some good sized hail up there?  That's kind of rare.  In the mountains, it normally doesn't get much larger than pea sized.  There was a tornado warning for the area just South of Greeley a little earlier this evening.  We got some heavy rain here & there was 1/2 inch diameter hail just north of town.  Ah, springtime on the Front Range.

Thought a big dinner we could all attend would be a fun thing to do one evening.  Let me know if you're interested!

Awe, looks like no one east of the Missouri River is coming, oh well, to bad, so sad, we will send you pictures!

Well now to think of what I need to do to the V yet so it will hopefully go 2000 miles with no problems. I think I'm about there, however as much as I hate dumping $12.00 of Yama lube (with only a few hundred miles on it), I am going to change it early as I worry I picked up some metal from my fly wheel rubbing against the case. I'm going to go back to a 20w-50 semi syn as I had in last summer. I also need to change my anti-freeze and I will re-scyn the carbs (nice to do as I have my own manometer). Hope my brake line comes in yet. I'm also talking to another ROV member about a seat exchange (but we need to see what the shipping costs will be yet).

I'm getting excited, for me this is sort of a "the stars and planets have lined up just right" situation !  Hopefully it will be a prelude to a get together in a future year with some of our eastern and Canadian friends???

Don, not to say you shouldn't sync your carbs... you should if they need it... but

expect your Vision to run differently when you get to Colorodeo...

unless of course, you have the external latitude and altitude adjustment upgrade   ::)
when I got back down from OnRov, SmokeBomb started behaving lots mo better.  :)

I figure all I can do is get it as well tuned as possible before I go. I understand it will most likely run differently up in the mountains-lets just hope its not to drastically different! After all, I didn't see a pool mentioned at the Condo's H2O has for us!

When I bought my V new from the dealer in Steamboat Springs, in the Summer of 84, they told me they had done the Yamaha carb upgrade to it & it was running the 135 air jets front & rear.  I believe that's what came with the carb upgrade kit.  I am wanting to play with jetting on the Pumpkin Project at higher elevations.  Want to try 137.5 or 140 for the air jets.  The 135s do tend to get pretty wimpy up high - 10,000 ft. or so.  One ride gets over 12,000 ft. (Trail Ridge) and we may attempt to scale Mt. Evans @ over 14.000 ft.  Yes, it is paved clear to the top.

Winter Park is at around 8,000 ft.  The 135 air jets work just fine at that elevation.  I'll have some extra 135s for those who need them & I may even have some 137.5s or 140s.  I plan to do some playing with the jets now that I'm back home until the party begins!  Still have some things to finish on Pumpkin & Silver V - ranging from paint & steering bearings on Pumpkin to the 83 fuel system on Silver V.  Will be doing the jetting tests on Pumpkin as I put miles on it to check dependability.

I see we have two new confirmed attendees - darkvision and his brother will be here!  Welcome aboard!!!  That makes 13 to 14 Vs showing up at some point during the week!  Also, if comatt can show up for any of the festivities, we have the possibility of 15 Vs all in the same place at the same time.  Too cool for words.   8)

I was doing some testing a couple summers ago with air jets ...at St. Louis elevation and the 140 jets didnt feel right.  I didnt have the 137.5's on hand though.  But the 135's did work nicely.  The 140's might be pretty nice for the 5000+ elevation (Denver and above) though.

All right, I have done my starter clutch, changed my anti-freeze, changed my oil (again), fixed (temporary)my gas tank leak, did a seat exchange, put my manometer on (and happy say the carbs were almost perfect, didn't touch em!) and put in a new battery.  My engine idles with no problems, I rode over 80 miles today, some of those miles at 70-75 mph with no problems. I'm ready to go, Colorado here I come!

Here is the roommate setup I came up with - for now.  If you have any problems with it, let me know ASAP!!!

3br condo:
  h2olawyer: (6/16 â€" 22)
   In this unit:
      ProfessorRex(6/16 â€" 22)
      don_vanacek  (6/16 â€" 22)
      Glenn_W (6/16 â€" 20)
      inanecathode (6/17 â€" 18  (?))
      kwells (6/19 â€" 22 (?))
                         comatt (?)
                         clockmaker (?)

1br condo:
visionmeister: (6/17 â€" 22)
   Share with supervision (6/17 â€" 22)

2 br condo:
Ron & Sharon McCoy: (6/17 â€" 22)
   Share with visionless & family  (6/17 â€" 22)

2 br condo:
Mr & Mrs QBS (6/17 - ?)
           Share with dark vision & brother (6/17 â€" 20)

There are a bunch of prizes & surprises on their way!  Our ROV'er of the year is an honorary attendee.  Thanks Tiger!!!

As you can see, some of us plan to be there on 6/17 and some are staying through 6/22 or maybe even 6/23.

If you have any input, let me know.

Should anyone feel like it, contact the motorcycle magazines to let them know of the meet.  I wanted to, but a combination of getting busy with life away from the V & my leaky memory, it just never got done.

Catered BBQ is tentatively set for Monday evening (6/18).  Plan on $15 - $20 per adult.  More details to come.

Tentative Ride Schedule:

Monday - Loveland Pass - CO Hwy 9 - US 40 (easy, mostly wide sweepers, fast ride)
157 miles - with Gore Pass & Rabbit Ears Pass tossed in = 280 miles
Tuesday - Mt Evans - Bear Creek Canyon - Lookout Mountain  (Twisty City)
               181 miles
Wednesday - Snowy Range Road (southern WYO!)  (mix - twisty, sweepers, straights, twisties & LONG!)
                   325 miles
Thursday - Trail Ridge Road - to the construction zone on East side or Estes Park if the delay isn't too long.  (Slow & scenic)
148 miles - or with Cameron Pass & Willow Creek Pass = 273 miles
Friday - Clear Creek Canyon - Peak to Peak Hwy - Big Thompson Canyon - Poudre Canyon - Cameron Pass - Willow Creek Pass  (scenic mix)
            186 miles

That's 997 miles for the short routes or 1245 for the full routes; an average of  200 - 249 miles per day.  Hope everyone is ready to ride!  Just worked it all out on MS Streets & Trips.  Will need to print out the maps, scan them & then I can post or email them to all interested.  Give me a few days to get that done, though.

The BBQ caterers haven't gotten back in touch with me yet.  The schedule may change - I want a shorter ride on that day, so we have time to rest & clean up before eating.  The routes are fairly well set, but the days they run are subject to change.  Weather may also dictate what, when & where we ride.  Mountain weather is never totally predictable!

WOW!  That's about as many miles as I put on each riding season! Can't wait. Now I better get back to work, have one of those jobs you bust your buns to catch up all your possible work before taking off, then when you get back you find yourself spending the next couple of weeks catching up again (except for emergency's no one covers my work when I'm gone).

Don - add in your round trip mileage from home & you are getting closer to 2.5 or 3 years of riding in.  It's about 1/2 of the miles I've been getting in the past few years.

Back-up bike is not a bad idea.  Mine will be ridden by ProfessorRex, though.

Of all that mileage, less than 100 miles total is on Interstate or divided highway & that is spread over 3 rides.  The ride to Estes Park may be a short one.  Trail Ridge Road is currently undergoing major reconstruction.  They're working on some of the "lower" section near Estes Park through June & will also be doing the high elevation stuff starting in July.  At least we will have only one construction zone for that ride.  If the delay is too long, we may just turn around and head back to Winter Park.  We will get most of the rest of that planned ride on the Peak 2 Peak - Cameron Pass ride anyway.

Make sure your Vs are as ready to go as possible & your tires are in decent shape.  Nobody is obligated to ride every day if they, or their bike, don't feel up to the challenge.

Fall River Road (I assume that's the road you meant) is a great drive - but it is one way from the Estes Park side to the Alpine Visitor's Center.  Wouldn't help going to the East.  Glenn_W could do it on his backup bike, though!

What no guanella pass? South park?
Title: Re: 25 Year Celebration Call!
Post by: h2olawyer on June 07, 2007, 06:52:54 PM
Guanella Pass has a long stretch of gravel as I recall.  Anything toward South Park makes for 300+ miles and the riding isn't quite as fun as the roads north of I-70.  Suppose I could make a South Park loop.  Winter Park to Berthoud Pass, Loveland Pass, over Hoosier Pass to Buena Vista, Leadville, Tennessee Pass to I-70, then up CO 131 to Toponas, over Gore Pass to Kremmling and back to Winter Park.  I'll run it through the mapping software later today to check the mileage.  It would be a mostly 65 MPH speed limit ride, though so longer miles would be done fairly quickly.  (Using speed limit to show it's primarily wide open, sweeping curves - not that we'll necessarily maintain that speed.)

That would be a beautiful ride as the entire western horizon from Buena Vista to north of Leadville showcases the Sawatch Range, including the Collegiate Peaks and Mt. Massive  & Mt. Elbert - the highest peak in the state @ 14,433 ft.).  Leadville sits at 10,000 ft. so the high peaks don't necessarily look that impressive.  However, Mt. Massive is a huge mountain - much larger than the slightly higher Mt. Elbert.  Hoosier Pass has great views of the Mosquito Rangwe with Mt. Lincoln, Bross, Democrat & Cameron.  All are over 14,000 ft. as well.  That part of Colorado is called "The Rooftop of the World" and has a National Scenic Byway designation.

A few years ago, I did the Snowy Range ride.  They were dropping the pea gravel for a new chip & seal surface. Went for about 5 miles through that crap - it was 4 - 6 inches deep in places.  Tried 30 MPH & 10 MPH.  Neither felt comfortable, but the slower speed made me feel safer, so I ended up at around 15 for that stretch.  Fast enough to keep the gyroscopic effects of the wheels working, while slow enough that should I have fallen, there wouldn't have been much damage to me or the bike.  In some places, there were some decent, wide ruts to stay in.  Not as greasy feeling, but the concentration level to stay in the bottom of the ruts was pretty intense.

For those attending, be prepared for a major personal message from me.  The property management folks are getting in touch with me and want credit card info to hold the reservations.  They will be calling all attendees this weekend to get payment info.  You will also be able to pay your share of the unit at that time.

You do not need to do anything until after you receive the personal message / email from me.  Those of you who do not respond to the message risk losing your reservation!  I will call everyone this weekend as well, to make sure you got the message & to see if the property management company has contacted you.  This is the big, important step in the reservations.  As such, you will get a forum PM, an email and probably a phone call from both me and the property folks.

More info to come.

I assume I must give them the credit card info-or they will not want me-but am I correct in assuming I can pay them cash or travelers checks when I get there? (and then nothing goes on my credit card). I'm sort of like Dave, the wife doesn't need to know what my Visionholic life style costs and of course this would show on a future credit card bill, no problem as I planned to pay in cold cash-if that's allowable nowadays!

I am a Visionholic, there is no cure, I go into withdrawal if my V breaks down or the ROV forum is hijacked! My Doctor told me that i can put myself in remission by riding my vision, ten days in a row, at least one hundred miles each day-I hope i can make it!

All people who are "in charge" of cono units should have received an email from me.  There is an attachment that outlines the total cost of the unit.  It is up to you to figure out how to divvy up the costs.

Those of you who received emails, and have not made other arrangements with me, please call Rebecca at Vacations, Inc. to give her a credit card # to hold the condo or pay for the unit - or your share thereof.

If you did not receive an email & think you should have, PM or email me - I can explain what's going on with your bed.

See everyone next weekend!!!

Anyone who has  told me that they want to come up for a night or two during the celebration, but can't stay the entire week, the deal is:

We have room in a 3br condo for the 'transients'.  There are 4 of us in it for all or most of the week.

inanecathode, kwells, comatt & clockmaker (a non-ROV friend from Ft. Collins) have all mentioned the possibility of coming up for a night or two.  Alewulf has also mentioned the possibility of showing up, but not likely for a night.

The cost per night is a reasonable $35 per person - payable in cash or check to me.  I've even paid a little extra out of my pocket to make sure there's room for everyone who shows up.  All funds beyond my extra out of pocket expenses will be divided fairly among those who paid for the condo at the beginning of the week.

A full & open accounting will be available for these funds.

Any questions - just ask!

Hi Folks,
I just managed to get some time off & plan on heading out to the 25th Celebration. I had tried earlier to get time off but was refused.
I plan on leaving after my next set of afternoons and that would see me heading off on midday of the 13th.This is around 1,660 miles or 2,679 kms and I'm guesstimating  at least three days.
I'll bring a tent & sleeping bag as I'm in a bit late for sleeping accommodations.

We have room in the condo I reserved.  I got a 3br unit just for this reason.  There are currently 4 of us in it full time and one early in the week, another late.  It sleeps 6 comfortably.  You are welcome to room with us!  Unless you need to pay by credit card, you can just pay those of us who have paid for our shares of the condo so far.  Cash or check works for that.  If you need to pay by card, PM or email me & I'll get the info to you so you can call the condo management folks & pay your share.  Let me know how many nights you'll be staying (first night at condo & last night staying).

WOO HOO!  Although not all at the same time, we now have 14 Visions showing up!  (hope they all run -- inanecathode   ;)  )

paint the tank...

Kenny -

If you are planning on coming through on I-80, get in touch with don vanacek.  He's riding his V from Omaha, Nebraska.  Maybe you can do some travelling together.

Nevada has the brothels - Utah is the land of Brigham Young.  In other words, there are very odd liquor laws (surprised alcohol is even available there).  However, if you join the ultra conservative branch of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (Mormons), they still practice plural marriage.  Utah is still heavily influenced by the church.  They do have great skiing, scenery & Miller Motorsports Park is awesome.  At least they modernized some of the liquor laws when they hosted the Winter Olympics a few years ago.  The people there are also some of the nicest you'll find anywhere.  But, since you will be coming from the East, you won't get to either Utah or Nevada.

H2, How about you posting daily updated weather forecasts in this thread, for the Winter Park area during our time there so we can plan our riding gear needs? Cold, rain, snow, hot, cool, whats it going to be?  I've been watching the national radar for the last several days and it seems that rain is always in the area.  Cheers.
Title: Re: 25 Year Celebration Call!
Post by: kwells on June 12, 2007, 11:50:50 PM
Seems up in the hills there is always a chance of rain (10%) most days.  I get spattered about 50% of the time I head up to about 10k feet but it is usually short lived.  I was just up at winter park 2 days ago and it was cool but was not cold at any time.  It is a bit colder on the Mt. Evans route though as the snow up there is testament to.  I would say the most I would bring to counter the weather are maybe lightweight solid leather gloves if you hands are prone to getting cold, you jacket liner, and some rain gear.  I've never even worn the rain gear I have even though I seem to get wet when I don't want to.
Title: Re: 25 Year Celebration Call!
Post by: h2olawyer on June 13, 2007, 12:07:50 AM
The weather up in Winter Park can vary widely.  Even in mid-June, there can be light snow.  Most of the rain storms have been forming on the east side of the mountains - but Winter Park has been getting some as well.  If you have the room, I suggest bringing all the gear you can pack.  Daily temps can range from the upper 20s early in the morning up into the 80s - even on the same day.  Temps over the passes we will be riding often don't rise above the mid 50s this time of year.

Predicting mountain weather a week out is nearly impossible and is even more difficult when the seasons go from Spring to Summer.  It pays to be ready for almost anything.  If we get some snow while there, we will just start later in the day & do a shorter ride.  Chances are very good that it won't snow in Winter Park, but over the week, I'd say there's a 40% chance it could snow at elevations over 11,000 ft.  May not be a measureable snow, but it could be in the air.

Below is a link for what's average or "normal" for June.  However, the average or normal weather for any particular day may be off by 30 degrees or more!

www.weather.com/outlook/travel/vacationplanner/climatology/daily/USCO0412?climoMonth=6&from=vac_monavg (http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/vacationplanner/climatology/daily/USCO0412?climoMonth=6&from=vac_monavg)

My last two Father's Day trips over Trail Ridge Road (over 12,000 ft in Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park) have been in sun, rain, hail, sleet & snow (all types on both trips).  I did use my rain suit.  I tolerate cold much better than heat, so I was fine with my lightweight long underwear under my leathers with the rainsuit over the top - and my normal leather riding gloves with lightweight liners.  I wear that same long underwear under my leathers regardless of temperature -  unless it's supposed to be 45 degrees or colder all day, then I go with the expedition weight.  You shouldn't need that much insulation, though.  Normally, the storms are scattered & you go from warm sun to cold rain & back again in a few minutes.  The sunny areas are generally much larger & more abundant than the rainy spots so you have time to dry out & warm up between showers.  They are more likely higher up, too.

I still say the best advice is to be prepared for anything.  Not likely to get up to 100 degrees anywhere we'll be riding, but the mid 80s is not out of the question & actually, even likely.

I'm taking every piece of riding gear I own (that still fits  ::) ).

I have to put another coat of paint on the Tractor Friday.  Also need to do some grocery shopping, head to the dump to get rid of some yard waste, finish arranging a surprise, get the shell off the back of the truck, load the bikes (which includes making a couple new wheel chocks), do loads of laundry, and if there's time, maybe do a quick cleaning of the Silver V's carbs - see if the accelerator pump nozzels are clear.  Can do it with them still on the bike.

Tractor also needs some minor work that can be done in Winter Park on Sunday.  Didn't get the tapered steering bearings, but the steering just feels lose.  Wants to shake it's head a little but not to the point of creating a pucker factor.  Think tightening up the existing bearings should cure most - if not all - the loose feeling.  Also want to install the plastic trim on the front wheel - forgot to do that when I put the tires on it in April.   ::)

As don posted - the celebration has begun - in Nebraska!  Some guys will do anything to make the fun last longer.   ;D

So, I am definitely going to be coming up early Sunday morning for most of the day.  You guys are staying at Hi Country Haus north of downtown Winter Park, right?

I am not exactly sure what time I will be up there, I'm thinking 9-10 am.  Maybe earlier if some people are going for a ride.  I don't want to miss everyone, so is someone going to have a cell phone that can call me or I can call them to see where everyone is?  You can just PM me the number and I'll PM mine back or I can just PM you mine.

Should be great riding weather!

Thanks,
Matt

Actually, we are mostly at Crestview.  They're right in 'downtown' Winter Park (if there is such a place . . .).  The main office for the property management company is in Hi Country Haus.

See you guys Sunday!

AARGGGGH!  What a day!

Had to get  all kinds of stuff so I can now haul 2 bikes in the truck.  Got 4 more tie downs, a couple eye bolts, another 2x4 to adapt the wheel chocks, and a Canyon Dancer so I can tie down the Silver V without marring the fairing.  However, the Canyon Dancer really chews up the foam grips.  May get a set of some other type of grips tomorrow and install them in WP.

Got the 25 year surprise finished, picked up a new set of plugs, caps & wire to make Tiger happy  ;)  and even found time to finish the painting on Tractor.  Have to put it all together while it sits in the truck in the morning.

Don't worry, Don - I picked up an extra set of caps & got 12 feet of plug wire so we can change them out on Sunday.  Took a special trip down to Loveland to get the ignition parts.  Yamaha locally doesn't stock generic replacements.  Added an hour to my errands.   ::)  Also, when I stopped to get the surprise, it wasn't ready the first time & the lumber yard I used to frequent has changed over entirely to a "Design Center".  So I went on to their actual lumber yard looking for a 2x4 stud.  Would have had to find help, order the board from the counter, wait for them to bring it to me, etc.  Just too much trouble.  So I went on to Yamaha for the tie downs & hoped to get the ignition stuff.  At least I had some success on my 4th stop of the day.  I was out by the interstate anyway, so I just headed South to Loveland to an independent dealer - they had the ignition parts in stock (as usual for stuff like that).  Cool, 2 successful stops in a row!

Then back North to Ft. Collins & Home Depot for the truck end of the tie down stuff - the 2x4, eye bolts and large washers.  OK - back to 50% success rate per stop.  Then back to see if the surprise was ready.  Had to wait there for about a half hour & it was all set.  Finally, most of the errands were done.  All I had left was to take a bunch of bags of yard waste to the dump so I have a place to store the pickup shell.  Finally, by 3:30, I was ready to paint the two large Tractor parts.  Finished cleaning the gun & stuff around 6:30.  My friend showed up at 7 after teaching the Beginning Rider Course all day down in Denver, so he was really whipped.  We removed the shell & loaded the bikes between 7 & 7:45.  Friend had to leave at that point.  Took another hour to get the chock system modified & the bikes tied down.  Tying down a bike alone is not easy - especially when you have two bikes in the bed of the truck.  Just very little room to maneuver my large frame around back there.  They're in & tied down, but I want to do some modification to the center tie down points in the morning before I leave for WP.

Just had to vent a bit.  Just feels like a VERY long day.  I still need to do laundry tonight.  Tomorrow morning, I pack the tools and some spare parts, tinker with the tie down system a bit & I can finally leave for WP.  Should be up there by mid afternoon.  Then it's down to Denver to collect Professor Rex & back to WP to stay for the week!!

Glenn - I've stayed in Richfield several times.  Nice place to stop for the night.  See you tomorrow!

Looks like all systems will be go at camp Inane. Just have to get the carbs dialed in with kwells, finish painting the tank and fender and i'll be golden. Oh, did i mention i put in my shiney new fuse box and fuses? I'll show em to you guys, this fuse box is PERFECT for the V. It literally screws right in where the old one was.

Well --

My dad is having some post surgical issues.  Probably after effects of the anesthesia, but maybe a low grade infection.  Not sure exactly when I'll make it up to Winter Park at this point.  If not today, then tomorrow (hopefully).  I can't leave him with just my mom to take care of him in his current condition.  We're taking him to see a doctor this morning (if we can convince him to go - he doesn't think anything is wrong).

maybe he doesn't "think" anything is wrong because he knows you have this meet going on and he doesn't want to inconvenience you...

tell him after he goes to the doctor's, you'll feel much better, because if he doesn't go, all you'll do is worry about him and not enjoy the festivities...

if that doesn't work... tell him either he goes to the doctor, or he rides bitch :o
up to WP so you can both have a good time...

Well - dad is back home.  Nothing seriously wrong.  They discovered a low grade urinary tract infection & are treating it with antibiotics.  Those pesky things are notorious for causing agitation in senior citizens.  Should be all gone in a few days.  They even gave him a CT scan to check for a stroke & that came back negative.  ;D Gave him a thorough going over.

I'm headed up to WP tonight.  The flights into Denver are delayed a couple hours due to heavy weather so I'll be collecting Rex at around 10 tonight.  Should be in WP by midnight or shortly thereafter!

Thanks all for your well wishes & offers of help.  Greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the kind words, NV.  They help a ton!

Now, I NEED to finish packing so I can get out of here!  Otherwise, Professor Rex may end up sitting at DIA without a ride waiting for him.  I'll check back in before I hit the road.

whew...what a day!
Last night was surreal seeing that many visions of equally varying flavors.  Some dinner, conversations, and beers got the introductions going just fine.  Some Vision late night tuning and tire kicking as well.

This morning I got up at around 730 for a final high elevation mixture/sync for good measure and had some breakfast cooked up by Don V.

We pulled out at 9:18 and head from Winter Park up Berthoud Pass. I found myself in the lead on this segment of the ride since I've done it several times before.  It put quite  a grin on my face going up to the summit and seeing my entire mirror filled with Vision headlights.  After going through some tight switchbacks and several 15mph(yeah right) turns we got down to the bottom and hopped on 70 W to Loveland Pass.  I had never done that road but I knew the destination so up we went to another insanely twisty road.  We stopped up at the top of that summit (about 11900 ft) and wait for the couple in the rear.  After that we hopped back on Rt. 6 and headed toward Silverthorne and then off for some lunch in Kremmling.  I broke off from there and had to head to work in Denver but should be back out there on tues night or wed morn early for another epic ride.  I think the internet is sorta shotty out there so Im not sure there will be many postings.  I'll try to get up pics tomorrow morn of what I have so far.

Tanno PM me if you need directions or phone numbers to get a hold of someone.

I have been banned from riding the bike but thats ok because I am not sure I could even get on/off of it at this point. LOL! My little one just had a growth spurt in the last two weeks and I am feeling huge. I hope I don't have too much longer to go before I deliver. I am ready to get back on the bike. LOL! Please post pictures when you can for those of us who are getting this experience through all of you attending. And please one night when the gang is sitting around shooting the breeze have a beer or two for me. (Another thing that I am craving. LOL! ) Have fun everyone and ride safe!

I quit the painkillers two days ago and took Odium's Vision out for a 50 mile Applegate to Evans Creek ride today to test my shoulder. The Vision runs great and the little luggage case on the back doesn't mess up the handling. It still has the stock bearings in the steering head and they are fine, the 83 forks and brakes work well. The tapered bearings came with it and are in the luggage. It's got the 82 soft rear shock but being able to jack your pegs up with the throttle was a fond memory of commuting old Hwy 58 to the wind farm past Tehachipi on my Dad's Vision. Not a high speed sweeper kind of suspension though.

So, the bikes willing, I'm old and sore tonight. I better try for next year. You guys ride safe and take lots of pictures, please.

Kenny had to head back to Canada early in the am before we took off since it is a 3 day trip one way. Don V and Rob were in the backfield during the making of those pics.  Guess we tore through Berthoud and Loveland Pass at what I would call a spirited rate of acceleration.  I'll be heading up probably early in the morning and will take a bunch more pics...I wish I remembered everyone's names so I could provide a better narrative for those of you 'listening' to the updates as they can make it to cyberworld.  I'll bring my laptop up there so I'll have better updates as the week progresses.

We have been eating and drinking well... (and a lot!)
A shorter ride is planned for this afternoon.. we have been spending about six-eight hours a day riding.. Somany fantastic roads & tons great pavement here..
The weather is between 65-80 every day... just enough clouds to make you know you are at 8000 ft.. Sweet... Rob did a great job of planning!

I finally have a chance to post!

No ROV withdrawls with all these Visionaries running around.

We wish EVERYBODY was here!!!  ;D

The riding, roads & especially the people have been fantastic.  I've put close to 700 miles on my V this week so far.

Tomorrow the remaining Visionaries are hopefully going to climb Mt. Evans.  Highest paved road in North America!  Well over 14,000 ft!  Then it's down Bear Creek Canyon & back up Lookout Mountain.

Those of you who coiuldn't make it, are missing an epic event.  QBS told me to really rub it in.  ;D

My DV camera is acting up at the moment.  I'll finally have time to work with it tonight.  Unfortunately, several V's are headed back home tomorrow.  Won't be a ton of bikes anymore, but hopefully, I can get some small amount of footage.

People have been too busy riding to get action pix but I'll see if I can remedy that a bit tomorrow.  LOTS of people photos today.  Ron McCoy, his wife (Sharon), Visionless and his family, Don Vanacek and I were the group that did the Georgetown Loop RR ride.  Haven't had a chance to download the pix from my camera yet.

Don & I rode our Vs back over Berthouf Pass to get the the train ride.  Finally got my chicken strips a lot skinnier!  Those (15 MPH) switchbacks are well over 180 degrees and have a nice steady arc to them.  Talk about cornering practice!

More as time allows.

When I left I headed up to Laramie Wy & spent my 1st o/n at east of Omaha.Next night was in Michigan then back in Wooler last night in time for supper .

WOO!
Just got back today, and BOY did i have fun. Hanging out with all the other visionaries, blasting around in north park, and scrubbing myself in mentally on berthoud pass. I put on quite a few miles on my odo, probably around 700-800 miles in all. Bike ran really great, no problems really, other than a front brake that decides it's going to apply itself, and a freakin geyser of gasoline out of my tank when i filled it up. Even in this short week, i've gotten alot better at doing twisties, and improving my panic response (from a straighten up and slow down to a tuck in and lean further).
I had such a blast with everyone, and even though i didn't partake in the wobbly pops that seemed to be everywhere, the best part about the whole meet was hanging out in the pits and talking with everyone. It was an AWESOME time and i really hope i get to attend another meet, just hearing all those v's running at once is worth it.

Things i did:
Quit unfolding and putting on the brakes in a turn if i think i'm in too fast, just tuck in and roll off the throttle
Tached it in 5th (going slightly downhill, no fairing, so that speedo looks pretty appetizing, glenn thinks my jacket looks like a stegosaurus)
Leaned my V over farther than i've ever had it before, even on accident
Bled my front brake more than i can count (it'd build pressure, then i'd let it off about twice a day)

Things i should have done:
Hang out and help ron change his stator, then gone on the mount evans ride
Went to bed earlier
Made everyone else go to bed earlier so we could ride more :D

Highlight reel:
GORE PASS! I think all present would agree that that road was designed for the vision (other than the shoulder and dirt berms  :-\). High speed and low speed predictable sweepers and awesome pavement quality. Grins around on that one.
Trail Ridge Road, very high altitude pass, way above tree line, epic geology, marmots, elks
Rex's adjustable supercharger intake that both sucks women's shirts off and steals money (lol)
Last night's hang out at the pits (abs still hurt from laughing so hard)
Berthoud pass, last run coming into winterpark, i feel i really pushed myself and got alot of scrubbing done
My gasoline fountain, put 91 octane in the tank just to see what it'd do, turns out it fountains out of the tank about an inch high and dumps about a quart of gas at the station, and another quart in the BBQ parking lot.
Tractor bike aftermath

All in all it was an awesome experience, i learned more about myself, other visionaries, and visions in general than i thought there was to know. It was as qbs said, epic.

PS
Don is a FANTASTIC cook, that was the best eats i've had in a while

PPS
Other than dave's barbeque in estes park

I'm back in Sunny So Cal... and after 12 hours of sleep I'm feeling pretty good.
Man that was a sweet trip... The Vision ran flawless..I guess all that prep does pay off.  What a great group of people...

H20... Did a great job on the condo's and the rides! Well Done..

Don V... he should have his own bar & grill. We ate well!

Shaggy.. he liked my van (aka the mobile garage, "Do you have a...?")
He rides his V like a road bicycle and passed everyone on every straight downhill section.. with his spine like jacket...scooping up the air..

Rex.. his New Orleans stories are too funny..
He needs to open a Tractor supply company.

QBS and the Miss's... Why I always liked Texans! Good Folk..

Kenny... That guy can ride (when not stuck in traffic!) What a nice guy..ehh

Darkvision and his brother.. Rode it all the way from Northern Cal...!
I drove the 1200 miles (each way) and my ass was dragging when I got home...

KWells.. Another die hard.. I think he rode back and forth to Denver like 5 times
This guy rides hard!

And the rest of the CROV folks.. Ron & Sharon, Craig (Vision Meister) Dave (Supervision) Visionless (and his family)
It was grins all around..

If I left anyone out... sorry.. I had my share of wobbly pops.. and then some of Kenny's Rum on top of that..(once the Black Velvet ran out).. hehehe.  ;)

The Pit sessions were not to be missed.. What a blast!!!!!
Imagine going to the garage ( at anytime) and seeing all those V's and then always finding
another owner to share Vision stories with!

G rated run at  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

ok so Im back online again now too...On my last run back to Denver I got to do Berthoud Pass (one more time)...probably did that one about 7 times over the last week.  I also branched off just before I got to Lakewood and hit up the epic set of twisties that is known as Lookout Mtn.  We didnt get a chance for the group to hit this one and I think we missed out but things came up and set our week back a bit.  Oh yeah, I actually scraped pegs twice on that ride which sorta scared me since it was a first.  The bike is running like a top and pulls hard even at 10k feet.  At 14k feet it feels like it is running on 1/2 of one cylinder but I still managed to get up there.  I'm uploading pics as we speak so you'll have some candy to look at in a min.
Great thing to meet all those guys and gals and Im already planning for the next one.

I'm back home as well.  Nice to see the gradual posts of those returning home safely.   ;D

What a fantastic week!  Thanks to all who attended - YOU are why this was a success!

Two stators changed out.  Hope VisionMeister makes it home OK!

Monday:  Four major Colorado passes - Berthoud, Loveland, Gore & Rabbit Ears.
Tuesday:  Three Passes - Reversed part of Monday's ride and added Willow Creek Pass.  Gore Pass was repeated by popular demand - but run the opposite direction.
Wednesday:  Kind of an 'on your own' day.  Some went over Trail Ridge Road - some of them continued on the peak to peak highway - others went to Georgetown to ride the Georgetown Loop Narrow Gauge Railroad.
Thursday:  First attempt at Mt. Evans - Ron needed to change his stator.  So kind of a 'rest' day.  VisionMeister went to the Denver area to meet up with an old friend.  He also needed a stator change in order to start his trip home on Friday.  Large group dinner at Hernando's Pizza & Sub Pub.  MMmmmmm, good!
Friday:  Mt. Evans - 14,270 feet above sea level!  FIVE Vs made it to the top (5 started out as well  ;D ).  The Buffalo burgers in Idaho Springs, after coming down from those lofty heights were awesome.

Not as much riding as I wanted to get done, but we did plenty.

I had some technical problems with the video camera.  Thursday's down day gave me time to figure it out.  I managed to get the 13 miles of Mount Evans road on video.  Should be ready to view soon.   ;D

MP -

Your presence was sorely missed!  We had quite a few LEOs watching out for us.   ::)  Primarily in construction zones, but also in a couple unexpected places.

One of the local officers was in our garage often, talking motorcycles & wishing he could join us.  Really nice guy.

Since North Central Kansas is the geographical center of the US, Colorado really wasn't that much farther for the eastern folks than it was for the west coasters.  Three even rode in from No. Cal.  Though that doesn't hold a candle to Kenny coming from Ontario, CA!

Maybe not quite as twisty as the Dragon, but the mileage & variety of roads available here is incredible.  Never really appreciated how good I've got it until I had the opportunity to show off some of it.  Wish we could have done the Snowy Range Road, though.  With a large group, it's difficult to make time for a 350 mile ride.

You could always organize a 25 year party to celebrate the 83s or the final year of V production in North America.

We're getting to have a fairly large Colorado contingent these days.  Currently, there are 6 with 5 running in the span of 125 miles, all along the front range.  Unfortunately, the non-runner is about to leave for California, just about the same time he gets his running.

Hope to ride with you one of these days, MP!

I would like to offer a brief statement to my fellow Visionaries.....
Step up to the plate my friends...
We put 12 V's together in northern California for a weekend...(last fall)
If the CROV can do that twice a year.... (depending !)...
We had at least as many in Colorado in this past week...
So add the total ROV site together... and you should be able to pull this off..
regardless of distance or location.. YOU.. be the one to step up and organize..
Let us ALL... RALLY UP....and celebrate a great bike..
REGARDLESS of where we may be... The DRAGON..(oh please!)  the Lions Trail..
We all have great roads in OUR area .... No Excuses are accepted. Rally UP!
If you get together with any three folks on this site, you WILL have a
good time... Beginner.. Expert.. What EVER.... Get together and RIDE..
If you missed the 25 anniversary ride... sorry.. many made the sacrifice to be there..
to RALLY UP and ride...
This is the ultimate honor to Ron and his (our) site.. and to the Vision!

Thanks to H2O for organizing this ride and all the accomodations that go along with it.  Sharon and I have done one of these rides for the CROV so we really appreciate what goes into one.  You did a great job Rob.  Thanks from all of us who enjoyed getting together with our old and new friends for some great riding and fun hanging out together. The riding was great and the scenery was amazing.  Also the "pit area" was excellent.

Glen is right about rallying.  Its one of the most enjoyable experiences you will ever have.  The CROV riders have had six rallies and just a ton of fun.  The friends you make are ones you will treasure.  Seven of the bikes at the 25th Anniversary ride were CROV and I'm sure even more would have liked to be there.

Oh, Kwells,  ride again we will with much scariness.

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know I made it back home today safe and sound. Had an eleven hour day on Saturday, about four hours today. Only problem I had besides the neck pain (that I had all week) was that i vapor lock in Laramie, WY. Scared me I would have it happen again in each small town I had to slow down for but it never did (thank goodness).

It was great to meet you all, hope I see you guys (and gals) again sometime!! I'll do a write up and post some pictures later.

WOW what fun!!!!  I'm in Boulder CO now for another week before I head back to NOLA.  Talk about an incredible ride!  14 visions total and no big incidents (except me falling down the stairs! HA, my arm is looking better).  What a solid group! What a great time!  I'd do it all again in a heartbeat (well... most of it...  ;))

Well... I made it home!
Thanks H2O for the Stator and Ron McCoy for using the Volt Meter before I did something stupid,
like leave on a 1,000 mile return ride with a bad stator.
When I got to Salt Lake City the temp was 100+ and I hit Friday evening rush hour. Stop and go was not fun.
I passed on visiting Miller Motorsports Park for the AMA National because it was supposed to be even hotter and the wind was supposed to come up strong in the afternoon. Last thing I wanted to do was cross the Great Salt Desert with a 25-40 mph cross wind in 104 degrees. I still got beat up across Nevada from Winnemucca to Reno. The wind was so strong that in some areas I had to slow to 45 mph just to keep the V under control.
I one dayed it back from Salt Lake about 700 miles.
Total mileage was 3170 for the week. The longest ride of my life.
Now in recovery mode, I'm thinking what I need to do to get my bike prepped for the next ride.
My hats off to Kenny for riding even further.
Did Chet's tire make it back. My money's on cord showing at Reno and a visit to the local dealer for new rubber.

Glad to hear you made it back in one piece.  While we were fighting the wind in the car I was praying that some way you would miss it.  It started really gusting in Grand Junction and didn't stop until we got through Tehachapi.

Sorry I missed it.  I even missed all the great weather this weekend.  Tons of bikes out and the only reason mine wasn't one of 'em was waiting on tags & registration as I got my licene Friday. :( It should make 6 of 6 running tonight barring Murphy stoppin' for a visit.  I took it over to the high school down the street yesterday and practiced in the parking lot, leaned more than expected at 20MPH around a curb corner so that was good to know before going out.

Hopefully I'll be able to make a get together in Cali, if not a national one down the road. :)

Winds west of Grand Junction are not as constant as those in Wyoming & Western Nebraska.  I'd say about 1/2 my trips west have a fair amount of wind.  It's closer to 80% when heading North & Northeast.  Either way, driving & riding in gusty winds sucks.

Great news getting your bike ready for the plates, Alewulf!  So, for now, the CoROV is a full 6 strong.   ;D   May have to try for one small 1 day get together before you head West!  Since we're all within about 125 miles of each other, we ought to be able to figure out something like a Lookout Mountain meet.

Now, when we hear from Dark Vision & Chet, all will be accounted for!  Glad to hear supervision & VisionMeister made it safely home.  Quite a week of riding.  As for Chet's tire - I'm thinking probably east of Reno someplace.  Sure wasn't much left on Thursday.

Spring in the Rockies, what lush greens and water everywhere.  The accomidations were perfect, having the first floor of the building to park and an elevator to the floors.  The rides were just the right length, and the weather was mild, no rain!  Our shared meals were lots of fun too.   Great people telling all there best lies, we now know what QBS stands for.   On Thursday I left over some of the road we covered on Tues, and traveled all the way North to Hwy 80, for a return trip thru Salt Lake City.  I pulled into Miller Motorsports Park after dinner and explained my way into the track for free!  I told the guy that I only had alittle time to watch practice in the morning, and had to get going for the rest of my way to California.  As soon as I got out of the pick-up, I see team Ferraici changing a motor on the MV, so naturally I go staright over and start visiting and taking pictures.  They were super relaxed and freindly, and Elraldo starts asking me were I'm from and whats happening. I tell him the story of the Vision rally, and how we all got together, I say you probably don't know of Vision's, he says, sure I do I'm a Yama dealer!   What a trip!  Slept poorly in the truck, walked all over the place in the morning, looked at some practice, then split for home by 10 AM     Also talked to a kid riding one of the Aprilia v twins in the Motard races, he was leading the points comming into the event, said he grew up riding with JR Schanble! knew about Visions for sure.

Great write-up sv!

I really like the people who operate Miller Motorsports Park.  Very willing to help out & do what's right.  Glad you had such a positive experience there.  It's a great facility - especially for the competitors.  Haven't spent any time in the grandstands, always working when I've been there.  However, they make an awesome Philly cheesesteak sandwich at one of the consession stands.

Sounds like the race teams were great, too.  Was the Yamaha dealer amazed that so many Visions were still running & in one place?   :D

VisionMeister was on a new set of Avon RoadRiders (the replacement for the Super Venoms).  They looked great after his trip out here & all the riding through the week.  I'll let him post about how well he likes or dislikes them.

the only thing I can say about those tires is they stick well even when pushed hard and in varying temps.  Was only able to lock the front tire in dusty conditions while moving about 4mph

H2O, those consesion stands are first class, everything is quality built and staffed.  Unreal place.  The free arm band would only get me in the general admission grandstand, couldn't see much was my only problem.. The people camped on the other side of the track were getting the best views of the bikes cornering, I was just seeong pit out and straight speed.  I should have got a picture of Ferraci sitting on my bike, may be hooking his laptop to it,  haha

We would love to have you Aelwulf.  We usually have two a year and the next one will probably be in the Spring.  Depending on where you end up out here we can do a ride almost anytime.  Glen is in Santa Barbara and myself and Ron_Mccoy are in and around Bakersfield.  We are always ready for a ride.  Let us know when you get situated.
              Chris

I should be in the Santa Maria area.

Not sure where Lookout Mountain is, we'll see how mine holds up to regular use.  Worked fine coming to work today except a stutter-start at the gas pump.  Norad Road isn't bad on a bike. ;)

Hi All,
Chet and I made it home back home to the SF Bay Area on Saturday afternoon. Amazingly Chet's tire made it though it looks like a worn racing slick. We made to the Bonneville Salt Flats and camped out the first nignt and rode the rest of the way home to Livermore with an early start on Saturday.
The winds were pretty strong in Utah, Nevada and in CA along Hwy 5 and 580. Both rides ran great the whole trip. One casualty of the trip was Chet's gascan coming off at 75mph near Salt Lake.

H20, please accept our deepest appreciation for organizing a fanatastic get-together with great roads, great facilities and best of all bringing together our new and continuing friends. The camaraderie, laughs and fun was priceless. The past week has been incredidle and the most fun I've ever had on 2 wheels.

To our CROV brothers and sisters ( Craig, Dave, Glenn, Ron and  Sharon, Chris, Chet will be looking forward to seeing you at the next CROV ride. Y'all rock!!!

To our new friends; Robert, Don, Kenny, Kevin, Inanecathode ( Shaggy), Bob and Kathy, and Rex , it great meeting you and we hope to see you again at future events. Please stay in touch .

Thanks everyone for a fabulous time and a great adventrue.

Shiny. :) I was only in Santa Barbara once when I was at Vandenberg for training, went up to SLO more.

H2O-I'm going to see if samsr will do a check ride since I don't know what 'normal' is supposed to be yet but all goes well I might be able to take it up 83 and meet ya's up there someplace. :) If I do have a wobble wheel though I need to fix that first.  Makes me uncomfortable just driving to work, let alone Denver.
Title: Re: 25 Year Celebration Call!
Post by: h2olawyer on June 27, 2007, 12:17:43 PM
Headshake can make riding not only terrifying, but dangerous as well.  Your wobble can be caused by several things.  Wheel bearings, loose forks, and most likely - bad steering bearings.  Tapered steering bearings really help the bike feel generally more stable, even if you aren't experiencing headshake.

Hope we can get together for a CoROV ride before you leave for the year 'round riding opportunities of the left coast!  Get kwells, inanecathode, comatt and tanno to show up as well & we could have 6 Vs riding together!

Yeah, that's where my inexperience coupled with lack of time for now is annoying.  I barely have a clue on how to check what yet and I'm back to limited funds for parts.  I've heard the tapered bit mentioned before, I'm guessing the link on 'em is somewhere in the archives?
Title: Re: 25 Year Celebration Call!

Probably several different threads.  When I did mine, it made a huge difference in handling & even the overall feel of the bike.  Everything up front just felt more planted & secure.  One of the first upgrades that should  be made to any Vision.

There was a recent link to some on eBay Canada, Dennis Kirk sells them 7 they're available other places as well.  Generally $40 - $45 per set.

I'm on DK now but they don't have any bearings listed under the Vision set.  I found some for metric but none are listing tapered (here my cluelessness may be showing through).

Dennis Kirk doesn't list them under the parts available for the Vision anymore (???)

Here's a link to them:

Shows the Visions (82 & 83) at the bottom of the list of what this part fits.

The new Avons are fine tires. I was afraid they had to peaky of a profile when my V was searching in the ride out. But, I had the tire pressure jacked up to help with wear with the full load of saddlebags and tank bag loaded.
After adjusting them back to 30 front 32 rear they felt great.
The rear is about 2/3's gone, all in the center, from the cruising. I can now park it without center stand or sidestand, though it does need it's load balanced. I'll probably get three or four local 250 mile loops before they need replacement.

Donkey chains. :D

Thanks to samsr I've got the braided line on the front now.  It could probably be bled a smidge more but they work fine.  I had to do a quick stop yesterday when a light turned yellow at that wrong time (too far to run it, too close to stop easy) and felt the border when it starts thinkin' about tossin' ya over. :P

I need to check my pressure, pondered that briefly.  They're ok but might not be just right.

I'm going both Saturday and Sunday.
I have a hospitality pass that gets me in the food tent between turn 4 and 5 and a grandstand seat at the turn 4 grandstands.
I park at the infield motorcycle parking by the bridge between 4 and 5. Usually get in about 8:00 am as they feed us breakfast.
I'll be riding in with my neighbor, Rick, with his Buell.
