Riders Of Vision

Just be aware the deformed "flange" of the screws needs to be relieved to remove them in the future.  Drill the center of the "mushroom" to make room so the surrounding threads can collapse onto the new hole as the screw is removed.  Remember that these screws are to be used only one time because of the necessary deformation. 
Also check the rollers and the ramps they wear on, as there is significant force involved in their function.  This force causes wear and then failure.  If you see ripples in the surfaces of the rollers or the ramps they run on it is then time to replace them before they finally fail and cause more damaage. 

Yeah, whoever used a center punch attempting to prevent them to back out, failed. One bolt did get more then one strike with a center punch, but nowhere enough. I got new longer screws and a went a bit over board with the punch an hammer. I am too embarrassed to post those pictures. :) But they are definitely not going to back out...

Apparently there needs to be a bit more deformation of the end of the cap screws.  Your nice photo shows what looks to me like a mark from a center punch, so maybe there should be another one or two punch marks just like the first one.  The idea is to deform  the end of the screws so they can't easily come undone.  This takes some force and effort to make it happen, then likely need to drill out the center of the screws if you ever need to remove them.  Use these screws one time.  Replace with new ones.

I bought a "new" 1979 BMW r65 Which is not a Vision but is still a fun Vintage ride. This shot is at the Bagby over look on Hwy 49. I've been here more times than I can count on the Vision as it was my primary ride since 1984. We took the California Riders of Vision on this road a couple of times. Known to some as the California Dragon, I think it has more turns than the tail of the Dragon. 29 mile's between Coulterville and Bear Valley.
The BMW is not as fast as the Vision and handles poorly, poor brakes. I do like the classic looks though.
Ran into an old friend from Merced, Bob Lawrence, that I first met on bikes in the 70's. Still riding almost daily at 78 years old.

I had the bike for 20 years. 32,000km, I don't ride much. I wanted to check the bolts. Some one had peened all of them before, but clearly not peened enough. They are 12.9 grade, but no Loctite was used. Some rubbing on the gear, and the backed out bolt head. All three bolts were loose, one was rubbing...

Well, COTA was certainly an eye opener. Vinales started from pole and was promptly shuffled back to 11th. Marquez led maybe a lap, claimed brake trouble and crashed out. Acosta led a couple of laps and was passed by Martin. Vinales came back and passed everyone and won the race.
Now we're at Jerez. And both the sprint and the race will be live in the US on TruTv.

nice history and fleet. XS750 was one of my favorite rides. Did about 55k miles on one before moving to the Vision. Put about 69k miles on the Vision. Still have it after doing an engine swap.
