Water pump seal?

I have a bit of weeping coming from the, well, weep hole on the water pump housing. Replacing the water pump seal would fix this, no? Also, my radiator has a leak in it (how, i have no idea) it's coming from the very top right opposite of the cap.
While i'm in there, i should probably put a new cap, hoses, and thermostat. Does anyone have any stant numbers for the cap and thermostat? Also, regular heater/radiator hose works for the pump hoses correct?

Thanks guys. Vision is getting a front to back before real riding season comes. I'll be asking alot of questions here soon :) Blackula is also getting a valve inspection, anyone know where i can get some valve cover seals that dont require me renting a kidney to someone? I can't just rtv them, its those stupid half moon shaped end pieces that are so cracked they seep out.

The radiator hose that runs to the back cylinder head is an odd one.  I found you can get a "replacement" by combining a special part, a connector, and standard line if you have to replace that hose.  I would recommend not if possible.

PS. If you do have to replace it, I found my original post on it:

Okay, I went to Kragen Auto and found a molded heater hose that looks like it will partially replace the radiator hose to the back cylinder.  It is part number GoodYear 63244.  I combined that with a 3/4 to 3/4 coupler and a segment of straight hose and I've got what looks very close to the standard radiator hose.  I haven't actually tried it on the bike, but it's almost a direct match. (I did a rough test-fit, and it appears that the couple will be right at the first frame holder from the back.)

And this is what it looks like on the bike:

Yep, and there are two seals, a traditional oil type seal and a mechanical seal.

Which seal do i replace? How does one do this? I have the book, but it's in my pile-o-books-i-dont-want-to-disturb.

It is likely the mechanical seal that is worn, but I would certainly change the impeller seal as well since you are in there. IIRC  one seal spins on the other. The impeller seal is cheap compared to the mechanical seal. You should retrieve your repair manual from the pile. This seal replacement/installation  is a bit tricky, and requires Yamabond and a press or a seal driver, plus a suitable punch to remove the mech seal. It is also advised to change a third seal whenever you remove the crankcase cover.

I've done the water seal thing once, I think, maybe twice.  Been a long time ago.  Get off your fanny and retrieve your Haynes.  The job is not particularly intuitive and the Haynes is very comprehensive in its instructions.

Don't recall needing any special tools.  I probably used a socket to drive the seal home.  Don't remember for sure, but if the oil needs to be drained, take that opportunity to grease your armature bushings.

Typical advice: Be careful regarding your crankshaft oil seal.  Grease the two water pipe ends and "O" rings to ease their ends into their respective receptors.

this is the same seal used on my Venture too.  YOU MUST replace both seals. WHY? because to remove the mechanical you must remove the oil seal as well. ALSO Using the Yamaha tool to seat the mechanical seal makes life a bit easier. BUT a socket will do if you are patient..tap tap tap. Lastly the mechanical seal must sit proper in the impellar. Otherwise leaks will happen. Read the OEM manual. The impellar is plastic. Inspect it...they crack.

It's not a haynes, its the orig. factory service manual :P

I'll scrape up some parts. Still looking for valve cover seals too ><

Is it advisable to add a bit of water pump lube to the system to help?

Asking because changing the antifreeze is on my list of to-do's.....

All antifreze has a lubricant in it for the pump.  one of the reasons for changing the coolant occasionally is that that additive breaks down over time, same as motor oil.

Lucky is correct again. Water pump seal additives are basically useless. Racers should there be a crash are only are allowed to use water in their rads at the track because antzifreeze is 10 times more slippery than water and takes a "dog's age" to evaporate .  There are additves you can buy to ensure your PH level is correct. PH is the most important thing to long radiator life.
