Keep it upright and she'll always be happy!

:) #14 had a nasty rattle once I got her started up some months ago ::) turned out to be the front cam chain tensioner was kaaaaaaput...bugger!!!

Having #15 and then #16 come in to my garage meant #14 got put on the back burner for a wee while...beside, I only have a single garage to work in, so space is at a premium!!!

#15 is residing over at Kev10104's place for the winter and I've just finished #16 and put a cover over her....... 8)

The easiest and fastest way to sort this wee problem out was to drop the engine out of the frame...which I did before I went to work this morning :o

Coming home, I decided just to flip the motor with one of my spare ones that I have under the bench and then I can replace the tensioner as and when. Man they are heavy little buggers, especially when your by yourself and trying to wiggle the motor on to the drive shaft.......must admit that the old back is now kinda sore!!!!.......However, with some perseverance (and a few choice words  :o ::) ) I managed to get her in and bolted up.
The carbs are back on, as are the fly wheel, left side cover, starter motor. The stator, etc, are also wired back in... 8)

That's enough for one night, I'll get her up and running some time tomorrow... 8)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

8) She's alive, she's aliiiiiiiiiiiiive!!!!!!! Hooooooooooya baby... 8)

After a day of Christmas shopping with Cathy, I got at #14 tonight.

I installed and filled the rad (and overflow bottle) with fresh coolant, got the OEM exhaust installed, (after first installing new exhaust gaskets, back and front, before the engine went in to the frame!!). Installed the front and rear foot pegs and gear shift. Installed the battery box and a fully charged battery. I borrowed the full gas tank from #16 and hooked it up to the carbs. Checked that I hadn't missed anything  :o ;), put the gas on prime for a wee minute and cranked her over. It took a few minutes of coaxing but...Voila!!!... she finally burst in to life... 8)

There are no rattles or bangs going on, the exhaust is sealed nice and tight, no coolant leaks...and she is charging at 14.3 volts... 8)

I'll get all the newly painted plastic covers and gas tank installed tomorrow hopefully... :-\

This engine was wrapped up and lay under my work bench for near enough four years before pulling it out yesterday. This was originally a replacement engine for "The Mistress", one day ::) However, she is now alive and kicking in another frame and will have a new home come spring... 8)

:) Not really Q, I just get bored sitting in front of the television when there is "stuff" to do!!! However, I did enjoy a beer with supper and watching a movie.......after getting her going ;)

I'm really pleased to have her up and running once more. This engine is really sweet and with low mileage to boot!!

I'll get pictures up once she's fully dresses :o :D :D :D :D :D :D :D... ;)

:) Yippeeeee, #14 is completed and ready for safety Certification...another Vision ready for a new home... 8)

Now I just have to sort out #15...which turns over but refuses to start, for some unknown reason... ::) :-\ Ah...another day!!

:) Finally got around to #15, the Vision that used to belong to rob0s2 from Owen Sound in Ontario. Like #14, I decided that the easiest course of action is to drop this motor out and flip another one in...I can then check it and the motor from #14 at a later date.

So, I went out this morning, unhooked everything, drained the coolant and oil, and then dropped the engine out. I just have a few things to check on the ingoing motor, swap a few things over and I should have this engine in this afternoon ;)

However, first things first...lunch time  8)

:) With the "new" motor on the bench, she first got a good clean down.

I put a set of carb manifolds on (from the original engine) and the carbs, starter motor, new positive/ground leads and spark plugs. Installed new exhaust gaskets at the rear cylinder...(a bitch of a job with the engine in situ!!!). Removed the left side engine cover...all checked out O.K...and reinstalled using Stainless Steel hardware. Removed the two chrome coolant tubes and reinstalled using new #12 "O" rings and S. S. hardware. Installed a new oil filter.

Once she was all ready, I lifted the motor down and with the use of a trolley jack, installed the unit. Its now all bolted and wired up. The stator oem plug was cut off and has been wired in using new, fully insulated, male and female quick push connectors with heat shrink.

Canadian_Lou dropped by for 10 minutes...good to see you mate... 8)

Once he left, it was time to clean up for supper...and a couple of beers!!!

Does the "new" engine have a reatteched starter clutch and properly sealed starter motor?

:) I always do the starter clutch "fix" before any Vision leaves my place. The starter motor was serviced (read cleaned and new brushes) and installed with a new nose "O" ring...but not the seal.
