Diode?

I'm in the process of getting intimate with my electrical system. I have two wiring harnesses in front of me. What is this little diode toward the back of the harness? It's right under the fuse box. Neither of them look original (comparing the two looms together). I don't see it on the wiring diagram either. What is it's purpose?

There a diode between Side Stand Switch, Clutch Switch and the Neutral Switch. I think its purpose is to prevent a ground to the Neutral Light when the Side Stand Switch is closed, in other words you want Neutral Light on only when in neutral.   BDC

Ok cool. It just seemed out of place and I didn't see it on the diagram. AK gave me a spare diode and I was wondering what it was for, so I guess that's it. Thanks.

Yup, for reasons stated above... we changed the bad out for a good.

Cool. I have several now. Hey, you don't happen to recall what the relay between the harness and the voltmeter did, do you?

Spacifically, you will have to ask Mac.  (rhpaw)

He did tell me that the relay was installed so that the voltmeter only worked when the key was switched to the on position.  So when the key went to run the relay provided power to the voltmeter.   The voltmeter is not an expensive one and I noticed that it was a slow read.. on the run out to Missouri from Denver.. it was often stuck at about 12V... then when started in the am it would go to 13.5+ then drop back to 12 during the day as we run  down the highway.   the battery was a wally world cheapy.. and killed several times.. so I am not surprized that the thing is problematic.
By the time we returned from  Missouri.. the bike was running very well and starting well.. sorry for all the electrix problems.

am still following the happenings..
