I have a set of Avon Super Venoms on the bike now as we speak.? I ordered and had mounted the new tires at the very beginning of this riding season.? With only about 1500 miles, the rear tire is just about worn out.? Apparently the Avon Super Venom tires stick to the road exceptionally well at a cost for being a "soft tire" they wear very quickly.

Has anyone had any experience with just the "regular" Avon Venoms?

Super Venoms
A V-rated (149mph) premium cross ply tire, the Supervenom is ideal for 1980s superbikes and was developed from the production class-winning TT bikes of the ?80s. Its specially formulated rubber compound is on the ?soft? side for ultimate grip, while its computer-designed tread contour is designed to provide the biggest footprint, whatever angle your bike?s cranked over at.

Venoms
Built to take the loads and handle the roads, the Venom has a specially designed tread pattern to keep noise low. It has great cornering stability, progressive turn-in and a low rolling-resistance design for long tire life. There are reinforced sizes for bigger, high-load bikes and, unique to Avon, some sizes have the option of whitewalls for Harleys.

The Super Venoms are a Sport Touring Tire whereas the straight Venoms are listed under "Cruiser" tires.? Thoughts?

This is what I got back from www.swmototires.com which is where I by my tires from as they have great customer service:

I dont know of a venom that is made or imported in your sporting size, since
they are mostly cruiser tires. You might try the avon roadrunner this time.
They are $95.95 each. Or Switch to the Bridgestone BT45. Know what you mean
about miles, I only get 400 or so out of a rear. But we are both too fast I
guess.Maybe if we slow down.....

So Vemons are out of the question. Anyone know anything about the roadrunners or Bridgestone BT45s.  I think the BT45s are what lucky runs on his bike. Thoughts? Lucky?

You must ride crazy hard, I just changed a set of super venoms on my bike.  I got about 6k miles out of them and all I do is twisty riding.

I'm trying out a set of Pirelli Sport Demons, but I haven't even passed the 100 mile mark on them yet, so I havent done any really hard riding on them.
Rider1>No wonder, the Daytona has very sharp steering and aggressive geometry.  It's a very difficult bike for a new rider.
Rider2>Well it has different geometry now.

I find the BT45s' to be an excellent compromise on price, wear, performance, and quality.  They suit my riding style and needs quite well.  I rarely scrape the pegs and so therefore don't really need race ready rubber.  The small amount of sport riding I do is well served by their capabilities.  More important to me is the long milage they deliver.  About 10k on the rear and 17k on the front.  Cheers.

What is the best High Milage tires that are out there for our bikes?  I do a lot of freeway miles.
A bad marrage is like dirty carbs... It just makes everything else suck.

I got about 1500 miles out of my rear Avon Super Venom. I actually, and I didn't think it possible, but I wore out the sides before the center on the rear tire.  (about 20-30 degrees off center).  I guess the road to work, "Ferrum Mountain Road" lives up to it's name.  The center line still has a slight trace of tread and the area just off center is bald. If you hadn't seen the tire when it was new, you wouldn't know that the tread cuts were connected at one point.

My next purchase will be one or the other, Battlax or Roadrunner, just don't know which yet.

Lucky

I had the BT 45 Battlaxes on the bike & they were pretty good, but then the 83 ft end i put on have Metzler ME's on them & it's a BIG difference.  now i know that they changed the line & were replaced with the Lazer line.  i don't think i've heard a comparison between the ME's & the Lazers, but i'm probably going to STICK (get it?) with the Metzlers when these are done...

A couple of years ago , I needed to replace my rear tyre  with something  economical , so the shop I worked in  ordered me a IRC Durotour  ( wholesale about 55.00  )  it lasted 1800 miles !!!  I put a Bridgestone  Spitfire on next and it lasted  6000. miles . I seldom get more, no matter what tyre I use . It was as good handling as any other I've tried.  I usually  wear out the center of my rear tyres  due to my riding style  , I put a LOT of weight on the inside  and keep the bike more verticle than most , even in spirited riding in the twisties.  This come from  racing in the 60's with what we had for tyres back then. I Now have  a set of Dunlops on, that are finally bedding  in  and I'm beginning to like them more as time goes on.
