;D hey Lucky,,,I know just the place!!! go to your local parts supply place, like carquest or uap/napa, and looking in the YUSA battery book, it lists all motorcyle, atv and snowmoile batteries, it also give the cca, dimensions and terminal location for every battery!
years ago when I worked at canadian tire, I had to always try to match up batterys for harleys and such, that book saved me so much time and some people lots of money! ;D

Yusa has it online, along with a lot of good battery info.  It gave me a good jumping off point.

the reason i ask is that when it's 55-65 degrees out, the bike is slow to crank. it's allways been that way. i use 20-w50 oil, & if i go to 10-w50 or 40 it'll crank somewhat faster at those temps.  below 50 degrees, i can forget about starting it without a jump, in the warmer months it's never a problem.

I know the starter is good, i've rebuilt it with a new brush plate, seal & have an armature that Jason turned for me in it.  & if i jump it from the van it cranks like a champ.  it's allways been theis way, even with different batteries.  all the electricals are clean & tight.
i'm thinking that a few more CCA may be enough to eliminate dragging out the jumper cables.

unfortunatly, leaving it hooked to a battery tender isn't an option, tha landloard would have a safety fit over any kind of extention cord. (the bike lives out doors.) perhaps when i reach a warmer climate it won't be so much of a problem.

since the R/R is on the foot peg, i think it might be able to gofurther into the bike if the battery is a little deeper by modifying the battery box. (yeah, i know it's warm back there) it's a thought...like i don't have enough to do already, lol

Hi Lucky,
If you  can pickup a small solar charger try one ,they sell for around $25.can and I have picked them up for $16.can on sale. They usually come with a two pin sae connection/fuse/and terminals to connect to the battery, after that its as easy as finding some rays of sunlight. I am changing my Vision battery out this spring - I purchased it in 1999 & have had it on the solar charger each winter, best  Yusa I've had.
I have been using Motul semi-sythetic oil and have no trouble starting at 26-32`. Try it you'll like it.

solar charger, interesting idea, i could glue it to my bike cover... forgot to mention, the digital clock has a memory wire. i know that eats some charge off the top too.

Lucky: Another option might be to remove the battery from the bike during winter and store it someplace out of the way inside on a Battery Tender.   Or....and I know this sounds a bit extreme, but it is doable...during winter, maybe you could mount the battery in an out of the way place under the hood of one of your 4 wheel vehicles and wire it into that vehicles charging system.  You would get the added benefit of additional CCA during that vehicles operation.   Cheers.

I normally do bring it in in the winter, this year i just didn't. (i usually pull the carbs too,)
