I said no because I haven't had problems with the new one. Stock one was dead when I got the V. I usually have problems of the unusual sort.

All Vision problems seem to be of the 'unusual' sort . . .  ;)

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Lou, that foot peg casting vibrates alot at speed.  Check for metal fatigue in your RR mounting bracketry often.

Thanks QBS, I may just go with rubber spacers or something like that, then, just to help.

Mine is mounted on the left rear, foot peg/ muffler bracket. (since 2004)  Its on a T shaped bracket, that is bolted to the inside of the aluminum bracket and sits above the aluminum bracket . The T shaped bracket fractured after about 9 months , so , I installed it with  a rubber washer on each bolt. Bolts are lock tited  and threaded in  to the Aluminum bracket. No problem since. ;D

I used to have mine back on the peg bracket, but mine broke too.  So I moved mine up next to the radiator shroud, I like it better up there anyway.
Rider1>No wonder, the Daytona has very sharp steering and aggressive geometry.  It's a very difficult bike for a new rider.
Rider2>Well it has different geometry now.

I know I,ve seen quite a few new Triumphs with it sitting proudly up front... Extent you pioneer you!

I started with it under the tstem, like a Triumph(instead of the horn)  then I moved it in front of the radiator shroud , on the left front. Can't remember why I moved it down to the peg mount , maybe to shorten the wires?

I haven't moved mine yet. I'm waiting on the new r/r and will maintain stock location with that one also.  ;D

If you want a little peace of mind, definitely hook up a voltmeter before the trip and take along a small plug in battery charger. That way if the stator fails you can keep topping up the battery charge until you get home.

It doesn't take long to change if you are prepared.
At Winterpark I did mine in about two hours thanks to the help of Ron McCoy. Even after a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and a thorough gassing of noxious fumes from one Kwells. It wasn't the best of conditions.
Where are you planning to go?

kwells

I'm not quite sure.  But the long trip I had in mind would be CA.  That would prob be a 3k round tripper.

I checked off the NO. But in reality I have many spares. Especially stators. Yes , boxed and ready to go. No, I am not selling any ...But if you break down near me, I can help.
