Can ya'll tell me what air pressure you all run in your tires. Planning on putting some new Avons on soon.

YellowJacket!

I have the Avon Supervenoms and my bike seems to perform best with about 31psi in the rear tire and about 33 to 34 in the front tire.  Anything under 30 in the front tire feels mushy.

I haven't heard of many riders using more in the front than rear but its whatever works for you. ;)  I run 26-28 in the front & 28-32 in the rear around town ,on cross country or higher speeds  I run 32 in the front and 34-36 in the rear depending on the load.
I've got Metzlers on the yellow 83 and I am amazed at how well they perform.

I usually run 28 front 30 rear unless I am loaded than I run 30 front 32 rear.  I have the avons on now and have tried different pressures but that works for me.

I'm @ 30 front / 32 rear for all my riding - but I've got 230 lbs (+ gear) to haul around.  Running Super Venoms as well - at least for another week or two.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

You won't find the SuperVenoms out there for sale...and even you can find them don't buy them.  The last one sold to me was WAY out dated and had cracking on the sidewalls after 1 yr.  I just threw it away.

I'm running the new Avon's now.
I put 34F and R and I think it's a tad high.  Steering feels too light at hwy speed so I will try running high 20's

My Cheng Shin , Marquees (don't laugh, now), I run at  31 front and 33 rear, I'm 245 and the speeds here are high.

:) Front 28lbs, rear 32lbs...to haul my 200+ lbs around!!!...and that is by the Yamaha book... ;)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

pressures will be different depending on the tires you run.  Being that there are really only a few different tires that even fit our bikes the range of pressures are limited.  Experiment a bit and see how it feels.

To keep the bike from travelling all over the place when there are deep wheel tracks, I have closer to 40 than 30 rear and a little more than 30 in front. .

most dealers will run the presure reccomended by the tire maker since the bike was designed, built & sold with one or two brands of tires. Going by the bike manufacturers reccomendation is useless.  go by the tire makers reccomendation & tweak as needed.

I had a formula at one time for tire pressures & its related to the heat buildup in the tire after a short ride,
it takes into account your all upweight your speed and ambient temperature. I believe it was: put the  book pressures in your tires & go for a short ride (long enough to warm the tires up) stop and check the pressure- if it has increased more than 5 psi. your initial pressure is too low so adjust it upwards. If no change occures you may be running to much pressure. Has anyone else used this system?
For long rides you will be getting the longest life from your tires.

the formula is the 10% rule. If you start at 32psi. and you do a long ride(30 or so miles) without much stopping, stop and check pressure and it's now 35...you are good. There is one variable. The air temp must stay the same when doing this test. SO do a fast 30 miles on the highway for accurate results. I am putting an Avon Road Rider on the front this week. I hope I am satisfied. As my wife says, "you are never satisfied".  Just look at my new brakes and you know what she means.
looks aren't important, if she lets you play by your rules
