I'm putting my carbs back together and in doing the accelerator pump test found one of the jets completely plugged. I've dipped it in carb cleaner and the big can of dip stuff, but no dice. How can I get this cleared out?

Thanks,
Derek

If the nozzles themselves are clogged, sometimes dipping won't clean them out. here's what you do:

Remove the carb tops & gaskets.
Using a large pair of vice grips, put them tightly on the big round part of the nozzle. they are brass and may distort slightly. this is ok.

Slowly twist the vice grips clockwise & counter clockwise (looking down from the top) little by little, while pulling up.  they should eventually come off.

be careful, under neath is a weight & then a ball check. don't loose them.

Once the nozzles are out you can use carb cleaner to clean the passages, and to clean the tiny hole on the nozzles themselves, use one strand of picture hanging wire.

when your done, drop the ball in the carb first, then the weight, then tap the nozzle back in.  try to get it in  straight.

you might have to take a file to the body of the nozzle to get it round enough to fit back into the top part of the carb.

Thanks. I've got the nozzle out and soaking in cleaner stuff, but it hasn't done anything so far. I'll try the picture wire.

I had the same problem and followed Lucky's advice and it fixed it.
