I pulled the tank off the bike to see if I could fix my carbs again and discovered that the air filter had been jarred out of place.  O.K. that is probaly the cause of my problems.  Then I go to my tank back on and I notice that it has three hoses coming out of it fuel, a vacuum (that runs down to the base of the front cylinder), and one about two inches long with a big rusty screw plug.  Is this supposed to go somewhere, or do you think that this is a boneyard part.

thanks
Don't tell me about your "gonna do" projects.  Just do it already.  I don't want any coulda, shoulda, woulda in my life.

I should let somebody else try this but, is your's an '82 or an '83? I know the '83 petcock has 3 hoses, fuel feed, vacuum and a fuel return line. If you have an '83 tank on an '82, that is why that line is plugged. If you are not sure, the '83 has a fuel level sending unit on it. It will have a 2 wire connector with no place to plug it in, if it hasn't been cut off.
