Hi ROV,

I'm a bit afraid of telling you this but after only a few months with the Vision and her small glitches I'm was looking for something bigger, more stable and stronger to carry my wife and myself on longer rides.

Update - I actually bought a FJR a week ago, here are some photos:

The "V" is still in my care but it's difficult to find a place for her.

The FJR is a fine machine - and looks great too.

For the past 18 or so years I've always had at least 2 motorbikes - often a large (>750cc) for any longer distance journeys and a smaller one (<500cc) for around town.
Bigger one usually more valuable, and cared for, the smaller one able to take the knocks etc in local bike parks/being reversed into by some idiot who can't use their mirrors.

Works for me.

Glitches? That'll be character - but then I'm quite happy to get my spanners out every now and again.

Very nice, in some ways it almost looks like an enlarged 83 Vision!

Two up touring, while doable on the Vision, is much more comfortable on a bigger, newer bike.  I don't blame you for getting the FJR for that duty.  It's one of the bikes I'd kind of like to have for touring around the US.  If you can do it, you ought to keep the "V" for the fun solo rides closer to home.  Even if you decide to pass your "V" on to a new owner, you are always welcome around here.   ;D

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

I had actually considered an FJR but the reported problem of excessive cockpit temp on the older models pretty much ruled it out for me in Florida. Nice bike if ambient temp is not a problem though.

Hehe, at a Yamaha dealer the tech guy said that my Vision looked almost the same as my friends V-max - my friend didn't like that 8)

;) I usually don't care for glitches but having vapor lock for the third time in one (really hot) day was a bit annoying especially when exposed to one of my friends with the V-max...

Thanks, I'm trying to keep the "V" but had a visit from a prospective buyer yesterday who didn't like the behaviour of the fork - maybe she's meant to stay with me ;)

When I tried the -05 I felt some of that heat but with the adjustable vents on the -06 I find it much better

Then they probably really wouldn't like that the Vision was likely the predecessor for the VMax,  or at least a considerable contributor.  As such he should love your V for helping the VMax get made. ;)

Ah, such fun to be out riding...
*thunk*
What was that?!
