Still no fire on front cylinder

Well, I went out today to swap coils side for side, and I decided that it was easier to just swap electrical connections. When I did this I got fire on front cylinder but not the rear. I tested each connections with a test light and the coil for the front cylinder did not light up the light while cranking engine, but rear one did. So this tells me that the coils are fine, and it must be the igniter I guess, or could it be inside the engine. Is there a way to check the power coming out of the engine itself. I tried a test light on the 3 wires feeding to the igniter box, which are 1 black, 1 white, and 1 red. None of them lit up the test light, but I don't know if they should. I have a multi-meter, but not sure what setting to put it on, and what I should get for readings.

Arthur,
Your engine is fine.  My guess is that it is either the TCI box, or simply the rev limiter circuit.  Did you say the rev limiter had been cut or am I confused?
If its been cut, then the problem most likely is the TCI.  I saw one on ebay for a buy it now price of 30.00.

Have you "ohmed" out the pick ups?   the spec is ~ 110 ohms black to red and black to white....if I remember corectly. do this at the connecter that plugs into the TCI. Disconnect it from the TCI. Black is common. Get a good ohm meter... they are not expensive $15- $20 at walmart or Radio Shack
looks aren't important, if she lets you play by your rules

And all of them should not read a short to ground, even when you wiggle them by the shift lever shaft as they enter the stator cover.

Having tested good at the three wire plug, you still need clean tabs on the TCI and clean tight receptacles in the TCI plug.

I checked the pick up coils, 110 ohms on one and nothing on the other one. I have an extra engine, so I checked the wires on that one, and I get 110 ohms on both of them. I guess I'm gonna have to do a swap out. This is good news sence I allready have them, I would have to purchase a new igniter box. So soon as I get time to do this, I will let you know how I pan out, Thanks for all your help guys, this forum is awsome.

Finnally got the time to change my pick up coils, and that was the problem. Put her all back together and put a good charge into the battery, and she fired right up and run just the same as it did before, just in time for the cold weather. I guess now its time to winterize her and wait for spring. Thanks for all the input and help. Thank god for this forum.
