Yesterday, I had a riding opportunity (haven't had many lately) so I took the TDM as I haven't had a problem since adding the electric fuel pump 2 yrs ago. Anyway, rode the 67 miles to the farm and did what I needed to do. Had to dodge some rain showers on the way back but made another stop closer to home. When I came back to the bike, key on and nothing! WTF, over? Then I realized I had no tools with me, just an allen wrench. Had my cell phone but got nothing but voice mails. A guy at Ace Hardware saw me and offered some tools. I had to take the fairing partly off to remove the tank so I could get at the battery and somewhere in that process, my problem cleared. Had to be a loose connection but I didn't identify it. Put it back together and rode home.
I knew better than to ride without tools, even the factory tool kit would have been enough. Probably everyone else knows better too but a long time with no problems can make you complacent.
Side note, when I got back home I still had some uncompleted errands. Took the Vision, no problems.

 :) A lesson learned Walt... ;)

For good or for bad, the oem tool kit is always in the "pocket" inside the rear light shell. I also have a couple of spare fuses, electrical tape, spare bulbs, etc, there too!!! Ya just never know, eh!!!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

'82 Vision, Pearl Orange finish, lots of up-grades!!!

Another lesson:  always break down near an Ace Hardware! :)
