I got some bits and pieces off ebay to fix my leaky rear exhaust.
I've noticed a lot of pitting on this one chromed piece.
I've posted some pics to let you take a look, please let me know if they are usable or if i need to get some new parts.  And where to get them ...

The inner taper on the other side does the sealiing on the copper ring. The corroded side you show needs to be brushed or sanded smooth as well as the inside of the clamp. Exhaust paint workks fine. $00.02 ;) Coil

The corresponding shape of the part bolted to the head may be more important to the sealing - how pitted is that? Also, the copper gaskets have to be in good shape and fit tight to the OD of the Y-pipe.

isnt it a good idea to replace the copper gaskets whenever you remove and replace the exhaust coupling? I always do just to insure a tight seal. ;D

that's not the copper ring Indy, that's the part that holds it in place

no, I know, but isnt there a copper crush ring up against the cylinder head as well?

On my front pipes they were a flat man-made gasket material, not copper. Maybe they are copper originally but replaced by a PO with aftermarket? I did not replace them and they haven't leaked. I did not remove the short pipes at the rear head but did on my parts bike and they were also the non-copper gasket. BTW, Dennis Kirk sells those gaskets and the picture looks to be what is in mine. They didn't have the copper gaskets for the Y-pipe.

The other part that this piece pushes up against looks much better.  The copper gasket doesn't show any signs of wear.
I think I am going to clean it all up and give it a shot.

Rikugun,  There are 6 "gaskets".  There is one for each exhaust port right against the head, those are the ones that are flat and have a ceramic (or something similar) layer in the middle. The copper rings (crush gaskets) go between the Y and the down-tube from the head, one for each.  Those are the most likely to leak and are a pain to put into place. They are only on the back exhaust.

I thought that's what I said but apparently not clear enough!?  :)
