I just got my renewal and my insurance went up over $70.I called them and they say you have a perfect driving record and that is why I was rewarded. The rates went up everywhere they tell me.Time to shop around I think.

YellowJacket!

I have used Progressive over the years and my rates have been going down.  I've been very happy with them in comparison to the other insurance companies that I have used.

I have high limits. Which cost more than the bas minimum. $250 for 2 bikes. I think $75 for Vision and $175 for Venture. They cover all my many accesories.

...and by the way Kev your coverage went down while the price went up!

You American fellows would flip your wigs  if you knew what we pay up here!   It's so bad we just don't want to talk about it  :-X and if you live in Quebec you are totally up the creek.  Good incentive to retire Stateside and register our bikes there!

Re-Vision

Is your insurance high because of icier conditions or just greedy insurance companies? Can you retire to the U.S. as  a simple choice, I would have thought it would be a very difficult thing to do?   BDC

No doubt about it.It is very frustrating and definitley a touchy subject. There is no other way to put it but say it is legal robbery.

Why is it so expensive in Canada?  Well...it does depend on where you live and if you live in a the big city with greater risk assessment you tend to pay more premium.  Then there is the smaller constituency of Canadian bikes that is supposed to mean that they carry more risk because it is not spread out over a larger number of people.  I say throw us in with our American friends  ::).

It sounds stupid because a lot of Canadians probably only drive their motorcycles about 3 months out of the year to boot and pay through the nose.  I drive about 8 months so get a bit better value than the average rider.

The thing I can't figure out is we pay full premiums on each bike you own and yet can only ride one at a time...go figure.

On retirement in the US the Canadian snowbirds can live in the US for about 6 months as a visitor and then need to come back to visit Canada at least once, before they can go back again.

I didn't realiaze you get charged full value if you own 2 or more bikes. That is good info.Thank you.

They told me that I got a break because I was old..
All my bikes are Beeemrs.  They also said the risk is based on you riding only one at a time.   dahh.

seems pretty reasonable to me..

My other  INS. CO (a national big insurance co) has most of my property personal, business and commercial, my boats and vehicles, they have good service and  good protection and honest claim service...so I am loyal...

I asked bike about a break... they said $250 per bike.
they didn't say they don't like motorcycles... but, my buddy agent did,  go figure.

I went to Geico for my bike insurance.

Hoping I never make a claim.. I consider it the cost to get a coverage card.  Which the law requires.

Stay away,, uninsured motorist!

I would be happy with $250 per bike.I was ok with paying $590 last year but a little upset when it went up $70 this year for no apparent reason.

vadasz1

I just got my insurance renewal form and the price DROPPED by $11.  So I think I can't complain.  Last year was $551 and this year it is $540.

Kev try calling a broker that deals with JEVCO as that is the company that insures my bike.
Keep it upright and she'll always be happy!

Usually we pay over the top for some stuff here in the UK, quite often called ripoff Britain.
But in this case my insurance was a bit cheaper than most people here.
Got fully comprehensive cover for 61 GBP (98 USD) and then got 30 GBP cashback (48 USD)
