I can't read the parts numbers on my parts pages, page g3 #'s 48, 49, 50 screw nut and washer for windshield-to-fairing attachment.  Happy Easter!  Thanks

For the '83 XZ550RK

48   90157-04040-00  screw
49   95706-04100-00  nut
50   90202-04141-00  washer

For my '82 Yamaha of America 1/4 fairing I was able to use use plastic screw/washer/nut hardware that was available from a local hardware store.  So far has held up well - about 10 years now.

Probably the easiest and cheapest way to go.  I'll run this off and save it.  Thanks,

I used stainless machine screws and lock nuts from the hardware store with nylon washers between the screw and the windshield.
Sometimes you have to lose everything before you can find yourself

I've always understood to use nylon screws and bolts in case of an impact...

Lucky is correct.  You want the nylon bolt to break (it won't sheer, it will stretch apart) before the fairing itself will break. You don't want the fairing to break, in particular the windscreen, because the windscreen will create sharp, pointy, and cutting edges. When you're flying over the handlebars the last thing you want is to be flying over and around cutting edges.

So use the nylon bolts and nuts.  While stainless has a lower tensile strength than others, it is way higher than nylon and will potentially cause problems when you least need them.
