Hey guys, can some of you chime in on the best way to remove gasket material and adhesive residue please?  I have a large amount of gasket material left on the crankcase of the front head and a lot of residue on the bottom of the head.  I've tried fine abrasive pads by dremel and that works well in some areas but not in others.  I have found (on my old destroyed cylinder with the hole in it) that a brass wheel is just too harsh and scratches the surface.  The permatex stuff doesn't do anything to gasket material left over but does help a little on residue left behind.

A green scrubber pad will remove old gasket material , but if its thick a scraper will be needed. I have several , one is a scraper used to remove old caulk on sinks and tubs. I also have a small one that uses single edge razor blade. Care and caution is necessary when using these. Be sure to  wash every thing off  well, the debris from the pad is not good for engines.
