The Prophet of Doom

Saw this while trawling the web for "images"

It's an SR500, but with rotor which is off a Yamaha TZR250 and the brake caliper and master cylinder is off a GPZ1000RX
Looks like an easy upgrade for peaple who are dissatisfied with their braking performance.

Braided lines wouldn't hurt either

fret not

Stainless rotors look nice and don't rust but cast iron has much better friction for stopping.  Ducati and Motoguzzi rotors are not stainless for a reason, performance.  There are custom brake shops that will make just about any configuration of rotor you need.   Just something to think about.

I picked up a couple calipers from a FZR1000 for next to nothing (eBay), and will be putting at least one on my bike.  Nice double piston units.
Retired, on the downhill slide. . . . . . . . still feels like going uphill!

So Fret, how did your brake plans work out?

fret not

So, my plan got derailed a bit as some Euro fork lowers, calipers, and discs were offered to me.  I am taking the path of least resistance here and putting the XZ550 Euro brakes on since there is no modification required.
