I dont know but I think my bike should go a little faster... I can only get like 90 mph out of it, on the page it says it should be around 113 mph topped..., i did change the jets, so im thinking of changing it back to what it was....  any tips or n e thing would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,

If you are using your speedometer to determin how fast you are going, it may be wrong. I suspected mine was wrong so I took my Garmin GPS V and strapped it on my bars, It showed that the speedometer was 6 MPH slow at 50 and seemed to get worse the faster I went.
You may be going faster than you think.

it seems Yamaha's quality controll wasn't too good where speedo's were concerned, I did the GPS thing too, & mine was spot on, but I was surprised.  I hear a lot of people saying their off.

clock it with a friend in a car, using hand signals for set speeds, when you hit 50 raise 1 finger (not that one ;D ) have your cage driver match & check his speed, 2 fingers for 60, etc.  Be Safe!

Mine had a severe case of inaccuracy, so I went to a measured mile on interstate 5   (its accually a five mile strech)  and worked up the following chart.

One mile  in 120 seconds  = 30 mph
                 90 seconds  = 45  mph
                 60 seconds   =60 mph
                 45 seconds  = 90 mph
                 30 seconds  = 120 mph

actually I had it in closer incriments    but I can't find it    and don't remember  the rest.
MY bike was actually running  72  at an indicated 60    and 82 at an indicated 71. the margin of error gets progressivly worse  as you go faster, many visions have this problem. when you find out the error you can put a piece of pin stripe tape  at the appropate point on the glass  ,over the speedo dial  .

all u need is a bicycle speedometer... made by SIGMA sport or CASIO.... they work OK... my friend has one on his bike... and that was the end of trouble for him..

My speedo on my 82 is grossly off also. On a trip on the highway I thought all my friends where doing 45mph when actually they where doing close to 55 mph so mine is way off also. Like it says on the Cycle World test if you run 10,000RPM in 4th gear your going 94mph. Which is right on because I got that trap speed at the 1/4 mile with mine. Peace

so... I assume that my EU Vision will be doing over 100 mph in 4th gear at 10 000 rpms.. that's because different primary/clutch gears.....

Actually, I can't run 10.000 rpms in 4th gear since my cams come from the weaker version.... 8.000 is MAX.... I am looking forward to getting new comes... we have to hurry up Rick ;)

Part of teh problem may be the tire size. If you have a 1982 and have a 100/90 front tire, the speedometer will read low.  The error is the result of the 100/90 being about 2" bigger in diameter then the 90/90.

whether I have 100/90 or OEM 90/90 on the front, the reading is still lower.. and I noticed that regardless of the tire height, the speed is almost the same at given rpms... so.... our speedos stink.... good for pigs...
