Hello fellow riders! ?8)Those of you you didn't take her out yet this year must own a ''wouldn't-start" bike or they're really afraid of gettin fined on the beahalf of the vision distinctive sound 8)

As you see on my info card I had supertrapps on... like the look, but it was drawin lots of attention. So i've traded them in for new ones. Jobber ones that is... ?:-[ I got kimpex part number 016698 chromed muffler 19" the part was mostly a charm to fit on the bike with adaptors that were included in the set. New brackets were needed as the one that came in were 3" to short to fit and undrilled.

Once all in place.... fire in the hole and the test sound begings. :-/ not sure it's a real improvement. It's still yet of a road test (yics sealing job) that a another topic...

I've cut it open following the joint line and them ran it on the lathe. It's tricky to chuck it right but worth the pain. Perfectly plain. ?:D I personnaly recommend epoxy glue to bond the halves together. And of course new hoses !

I'ld like comments of any of your muffler tries. Does the pipe shape or run changes the sound ? mine is a Y at the cylinder a long pipe down the end of the bike to a muffler/cylinder arrangement.

What does a cop answer when you tell him about the joys of riding a vintage bike even if yamaha wouldn't make that muffler no more? ?::)

Hi there!

I havea custom one-off exhaust that was on a race bike..  straight through mufflers on the end.. i really like the sound and have had many compliments on it too.  the exhaust is 1" pipes from the head merged into a 1.5" pipe (independent for each cylinder) then run equal legnths.  I ran it with the mufflers off once.   ;D  big grin on my face, but then again, i come from a family of cruiser riders, so i love loud bikes.

I finally got the bike all back together this morning :) With the YICS sealed tight i could tell the difference right away. Lots easier to start and i runs so much smoother.

The mufflers perform well on acceleration and lots better than the old ones on cruisin. The sound is still distinctive but a bit lower. So more easily tolerable. For the neigbor and the rider aswell. 8)

Tx for your reply motorplow, but i,mincline to believe that the laws might be slightly different this side of the border as our cops carry the sound level meter in their cars now here.

Tx Blake, I,m willin to make my next exaust equally lenghtd. As it is how yamaha designed it. I'll have more time to do it this fall when the bike will be at the paints shop... Wonder how long it takes to make a 2x 2 to 1 ,these 2 to 1 and 1 to 2 just before the mufflers....??? ???

By the way... WHAT WAS THE AVAILABLE COLORS FOR THE VISION IN 82? Those anyone know ?

Enjoy your season to the MAX... Think BEFORE you twist the throttle ! :)

Lucky

I believe, i might be wrong, red, black & grey in North America for 82, & 83-black/gold U.S.; red/white 83 Canada/Euro/Asian versions

I haven't had any objections  about the sound my Vision makes ( MAC pipes on both bikes)  either from the law or citizens. This maybe because  learned early on that  the throttle  is also a loud handle . When your in town  keep the R's down , when your on the road  you can  open it up . As for me  my MACS sound great , the stock pipes sound like  a Hover with a head cold!

Lucky is correct on the US Vision colors for 82.  Black, Brilliant Red and Star Silver are the Yamaha color names.  If you are looking for paint that is an exact match, Cycle Color carries it but it is very expensive - base coat alone runs about $98US per pint!  Then comes the clear & they recommend their primer / sealer as well.  The Yamaha color code for the Star Silver is "o6m".  I can easily find out the other color codes if you need them.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Thx Lucky for the original colors.... now my heart is torn between keeping it original and going for a nice yamaha blue that would fit my helmet... :-[ I was thinkin about a medium blue with a silver stripe close to the bottom of the tank and down the bike...

To finish with my exhausts, l'et's just say the more I ride'em the more  I like them. At the look is just great ! 8)
