thought i would take some measurements while doing the top end and found that 83 cams have differant lift and ramp profiles than 82s using dial indicator the 83 has about .005 more the valves appear the same the exhaust is really restrictive where the flanges are welded to the tubes both cylinders appear to have  the same restrictive exhaust the 83 flanges on the rear appear to be smaller than 82s i compared with the carb boots are the same still have apart if any one has any questions feel free to ask did complete bottom end and top end  will assemble today gettin back to work                                                rick

how much of a chore will it be to pull the heads and reseal?  I've got the green stuff seepin through and want to tackle that this winter.  will I need to pull the engine?  will I need any special tools?  I work at a car dealer(technician).  Any dumb parts or gaskets or things to look out for when I do this?  there is only 4600 miles on it right now so things should not be bad right?  Thanks, Max

you need to pull the moter to get to the back cylinder better make sure the parts are available i have had my new parts for 3 years and if you are going to put new pistons in order the 83 parts. dowel pins locate cylinders and heads looks harder than it is and lots of detail oriented procedures for cams but they have some obviouse markings to keep you out of trouble be glade to help have web cam in garage hooked up and can send pictures ?what year are you working on
