Anyone try one of these on the Vision?

Father's Day is coming up... I was gonna ask for one. I have 2 Palms and they are super cheap for the older Palms on eBay.

Hey Chris,

I don't want to burst your bubble but it has two things going against it: 1. "Designed for spoked wheels" and 2. DISCONTINUED.

Quote from site: Turn your Palm or Handspring Visor into a dynamic logging and graphing speedometer and speed/time/distance computer. Mounts to any handlebar and is quick to attach and detach. In terms of brain power and functionality, this is the ultimate cyclometer. There is a patented Route Directions feature, speed and split time recording, route recording, a configurable screen with oversize readouts, realtime graphs of speed vs. time and distance and much more. It is easy to set to your motorcycle wheel size using intuitive control buttons. The 1" tall speedo readout works accurately to over 100 mph. This is an easy to use, easy to install, proven, patented and motorcycle-friendly technology. Includes a splashproof cover, and instructions are available for total waterproofing. (Speedo Sender and mounting accessories are not shown.) Compatible with all Visors and Palms except the VII. Available for Pilot or Visor palmtop computers.
Designed for Spoked wheels.
Sale: Discontinued.
Most GPS programs in addition to mapping also give fairly accurate speeds.  If you have a PockePC with a CF Slot, look for a CF GPS Antenna and get ToMToM or Destiantor.  Quite a bit more expensive but great for Geocaching.

Sorry,

David

Yup, I fully understand. The discontinued part means that once they are gone, they will no longer stock the part. The designed for spoked wheels part is why I posted here... Wanna know if anyone has tried it with our mag wheels. I assume it's like the bicycle speedometers and has a sensor pass over a magnet. If this is the case, I think I would be able to fabricate it to the vision front wheel.

I hooked a bicycle speedo to my monster.  I ripped the magent out of it's holder and glued it to my rotor.  It worked just fine.  I will say that in comparing the XZ550RRM1 against my gps, the speedo is dead on.

I just use a small rare earth magnet from Radioshack jbwelded to my brakedisk, it's much stronger than the little one that came in my kit.  If you're looking for a digital speedo a Sigma computer would do almost all that that thing does and is much cheaper, but if you're looking for a neat gadget and want to find something to use an old visor for go for it!
Rider1>No wonder, the Daytona has very sharp steering and aggressive geometry.  It's a very difficult bike for a new rider.
Rider2>Well it has different geometry now.
