Supertrapp Rear Y pipe

On the last CROV there was some talk about wanting to reproduce the Y pipe from the Supertrapp exhaust I am running.  I remember speaking w/ Jim (Coil) about this, and I am willing to loan out the exhaust while I am rebuilding my engine.

OOH - somebody with fabrication skills & tools, please take this project on.  I'd definitely take one!  If I had access to a welder, I'd try it myself.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

I was into that idea too, but I can't swing it now.. Spending money  in the yard, and affording the trip to Co. has me totally tapped out.   are you jetting different with that o pipe?

H2o, if you live in fort collins like i suspect you do theres a chance i could have a welder you could borrow.

Let's see what happens closer to those West Coast folks.  If they don't get rolling on it, I may try to make a pattern for running the rear cylinder out the left side & keeping the front cylinder out the right.  Means spending more $$ on cans, but I really like the look of the exhaust on both sides.  I may also see what some of the back-alley mechanics around here can do.

I appreciate the offer.  I was an iffy (at best) welder about 25 years ago - welds were solid & functional but not pretty.  Haven't done any since.  Would need to get a bunch of scrap pipe to practice on before I try making one for real.

I almost forgot all about it!  Jim left a message on the Myspace page about it, and I figured I would bring the topic here for an open discussion.

This is the whole exhaust system, and it is how it goes on the bike.

This is a picture of the rear Y pipe.

The Loop in the rear pipe goes around the center stand so I can still use it, and the rear pipe bolts on to the rear head, so I do not have to use that stock rear assembly with the copper crush washers.

Oooo, I love that coil-shaped tube. Mmmmm...

Hi, my name is Louis, and I'm a Vision-o-holic

:) With a little bit of work, you could use the rear MAC muffler on the LEFT side of the "V", using a mirror image of the rear "Coil" pipe from the supertrap system...you would have to fab' & weld a hanger bracket onto the muffler the same as the front Mac rear hanger...but it should work 8)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

'82 Vision, Pearl Orange finish, lots of up-grades!!!

Superfly,
I just got back from Better Process Control School in Orange County. Dropped off the Vision at Jim E's and picked up the "Flying Pig"
Thanks for the pictures. My R1 carb bike is at the point that McCoy warned about throttle linkage problems so I'm gonna be stripping my "Rod Knocker" to use as a jig instead of dropping the engine right away. While I'm jigging the Carbs I'll make a pipe too. What I was wanting to see when I wrote you on MySpace was a shot of the bike underside with the pipe mounted.

I've found "Y" pipes and tube bends that are readily available so I'm going to use the SuperTrapp idea but run the rear pipe loop as long as the front head pipe. Then any muffler could be run. I've got an engine stand I think that I can make a frame mount for to rotate the frame to build a pipe, after I ride Odium's old Vision to Agness  :)

Forgive the ramble, just shoot some pictures of the "Y" pipe and rear loop route to me when you can. Also, the outside diameter of the head pipes would be nice to know. The pipe itself is not necessary for duplication.

Gratefully,
;)
