A buddy of mine with an '84 KZ550 was back in town for Thanksgiving and I talked him into letting me go for a ride today. Man!! I love riding. This was my first time ever on the road (took the safety course a couple of weekends ago) and even the sub 40 degree weather could do nothing to wipe the grin off my face.
I rode out into the county and took a warm up break after about half an hour, at a local Radio Control airplane field. One of the pilots was stunting his Extra doing things like helicoptering, stall turns, flat spins and the like. R/C planes was an old hobby of mine and I love to watch people fly planes they have built themselves.
Now that the ride is done I have an extra dose of patience to do the job right on my V. I'm even considering a paint job. Pearl white sure looked sharp on my buddies bike. 8)

 :) Congratulation's on your first ride 8) I bet you still have a grin on your face ;D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D... ;)

I acquired an '83 and had it resprayed...It is an '83 Canadian Edition red and white. The white is pearl white and looks really sharp. The front fender is all white and the full fairing is 95% white... 8) I'm a big fan of the pearl finish...my '82, "The Mistress" is done a custom "Pearl Orange" and with the black accent's looks really impressive... 8)

A "Pearl White" Vision...hell yer, I say go for it... 8)

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA lets go again baby !!!!!!

'82 Vision, Pearl Orange finish, lots of up-grades!!!

Nice color, be nice to see how it turns out.  I've been debating going with a decent olive drab on mine (and yes, there are good & bad olive drabs :P ).

Ah, such fun to be out riding...

Been thinkin' and believe I'm going with a desert tan on mine instead with gloss clearcoat.  Might also show a bit of the geek side and leave badges off the tank, instead putting on the triangle Browncoat patch design. :D It'd be fun to use with the 76th at cons and such if approved and just somethin' different.

A V could definitely look sharp in military dress. It has good lines. Let me know how it turns out and pics 8).

I haven't settled on the pearl white for sure. Its a sharp look but I don't think it would be easy. I pondering what trim work I would need to do for a balanced look.

I saw on some motorcycle paint site that Yamaha had a Pearl Green for one of its bikes I think in the 90s, that could be interesting if not too light.

House of Kolor makes excellent paint.  They have some Kameleon Kolor - color shifting paints - but the cost is pretty high for that stuff.  I was considering some of their pearl white with kandy medium blue accents.  May order the paint for Tractor from them - not sure of the colors yet.  Will be painting in April, when it warms up again.

If you have an accident on a motorcycle, it's always your fault. Tough call, but it has to be that way. You're in the right, and dead -on a bike. The principle is not to have any accident. If you're involved in an an accident, it's because you did not anticipate. Then, by default, you failed.

Has anyone thought of trying a hammertone paint?

Hey Tiger, how about the hammertone blue that I use on the machines I manufacture?  Do you think LUCKY #7 will look good with that paint colour?

Here is our company website so you can see the hammertone blue we use.   www.vgrooving.com

I like blue.... a steel blue like bluing on a rifle would be nice... hammertone would be interesting....

don't bother asking Tiger's opinion... he mostly likes Orange and Black  ::)

You know. You could just blue the entire tank.
