Is there a coating on the rims of the vision to keep them shiny? If there is can I use a paint stripper to remove it?

Hey honey, uh, I got another vision... HONEY??? Oh yea, thats right she moved out...

Kevin

There is no coating on the rims, If you use any stripper on the rims you could easily mess up the paint. I sanded the aluminum with #320 sandpaper then polished out with mothers. If you smooth out the sides of the spokes they really look good. Kevin

If there's no coating, what keeps them from oxidizing?

Jimmy if you don't want to stip all the paint, and clearcoat off.  Don't use paint stripper.  If you do, then do.  I'll probably fully strip mine sometime and polish the whole wheel.  Maybe next winter if I have a garrage.

I honestly can not see any coating on these rims, but I could just be blind also. If I sand down the rough parts of the rims does anyone thing that will make the wheel act strange when I try to balance it?

Theres NO coating on the rims , mine do oxidize  and when it happens I wipe some Mothers on and buff it off by hand. It takes only a few min.  and they look like new. The foot peg/muffler mounts arn't coated either.

Autosol polish can make even the roughest looking rims shine up. Iv been using it on my engine case too and bit by bit that baby is really starting to shine.

I was wrong, there is definately NO coating on the rims.  Any decent aluminum polish will get them shiny with a little effort.  I did mine with mothers yesterday, they look great.

I started sanding and polishing on the front rim and found out it has a bend in it. I was wondering why I could feel a wobble at freeway speeds. This bike has been thouroghly abused.
Thanks for all the input.
