Otherwise known as list of things left to check off on the '82:

Front fork springs replaced (it's developed a wicked shimmy at highway speeds and nose-diving when braking, already eyeing some Progressives)

Tapered head bearings (I've had the new bearings for almost a year now, just need time, space and to beat down the fear of screwing it up as with the rest of the list)

Start clutch bolts (hope I can still find the replacement bolts I bought in the garage)

Check the starter for oil/if it needs a rebuild/install proper nose seal

Clean/repair/seal BOTH tanks

Clean the enginer further, try to pin down oil leak(s) if possible

Change oil (after starter clutch bolt fix) and switch from 20w-50 to 15w-50 or 10w-40, thinking the latter, since oil in the airbox started after last oil change using 20w-50

Check speedometer cable to be sure it isn't loose

Get new/proper-sized tires

New paint, possibly new plastics before doing so

New seal/o-ring in gas cap

Re-dip/sync carbs to try & eliminate stumble return starting in first

Fix YICS (eventually)

Finished bits:

New(ish now) stator & R/R (thanks to Bill Brokaw in the Springs)

In-line fuel filter with upgraded exposed fuel lines

Better radiator

Blade-style fuse box (fingers crossed the wiring holds)

New front wheel bearings (again fingers crossed that heat needed to install 'em didn't hose 'em)

New battery

New plugs, wires & caps

Replaced license plate bracket

Thermostat adjustment

Rebuilt petcock (thanks to samsr for parts petcock)

Braided front brake line (again thanks to samsr)

Replaced brake bar bolts (samsr again, lot of help that day :) )

Carb boots sealed

Ah, such fun to be out riding...

Heh.  I don't mind the minor ones hanging around now & then.  Keep me current working on it. ;) It's the major 1-2 timers that tend to bother me.  I'd feel more comfortable doing exhaust, intake and fuel computer upgrades on the new one than I would the Vision which I believe is more straight-forward overall (except the exhaust).

Heaven forbid I ever get decent workspace again I think I'd like to do a full tear-down of the Vision, for a really good cleaning and overall familiarization.  It'll be some time before than can happen though.

Yeah, a tear-down is good so you know what goes where.  Though I think I just discovered something when I put my bike back together, I think I swapped the front and rear bolt that holds the aluminum plate for the footrest....   On the left side the bolts are about flush with the aluminum plate, on the right they aren't.

Hmm...
