For those of us who prefer High end tyres , this announcement will be of little excitement. But to those who, by,choice or  necessity , have used Cheng Shin tyres, it will be disappointing. Cheng Shin has stopped importing street tyres as of January 31 2009. They will continue to import dirt tyres.
I will probably use , either Bridgestone Spitfires , which I have used before, or Bridgstones tyre for older bikes . The front one is a rib type , which I prefer, although it isn't a staggered rib  like the CS.

Rick,

That could be good news. The DuroTour set on my "Flying Pig" are just about gone. I'll be able to replace them at a close out sale!

:D

Coil, I would act quickly, supplies of CS tyres have been spotty recently. I had a Durotour on the back , when I lived in OR . It lasted 1800 miles , It was my last one!

The Ching Shin brand for street tires will go away. The Maxis brand is made by Ching Shin, Maxis has alittle better image from a marketing stand point as they try to move up market to sell more expensive tires.

It will interesting to see if they keep some of the smaller sizes, and tread patterns from the old Ching Shin line.

Rick, Did you hear that from the importer? My info came from a friend who works for Tucker-Rocky.
