Hi all, I'm new here, first of all want to point out that my English is not good.

And now the description of my problem:

Some time ago, I bought a defective xz550 82 '

The engine is generally good, has damage to the crankshaft bearing and connecting rod.

The shaft has been renovated, and now I have to buy a main bearing crankshaft with the Yamaha ... the dealer told me that there are four different dimensions of the bearings
How to adjust the size? Where to look for signs on the shaft?

Please any help in this matter. I do not have service books for this motorcycle.

Re-Vision

Welcome Pawel,

Crankshaft and Bearings

Connecting rod side clearance             .32 to .43 mm
Crankshaft runout limit                        .002 mm
Main bearing oil clearance                   .020 to .062 mm
Connecting rod bearing oil clearance    .035 to.054 mm

Not knowing much about engines I thought I would give you the information found in the service manual. It says to take the crankshaft and both crankcase halves to Yamaha dealer when new main bearings are required.  Recommend buying Lucky's CD or a manual for more detailed infomation.  I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will help out with better info in time.  Wishing you the best.   BDC

The motorcycle was not used last 12 years ...

I wonder whether to buy a second complete engine, so it will be cheaper.

Vision is very Problematic bike compared to other Yamaha motorcycles.

Pawel:  Just to let you know, ANY bike/automobile that has been sitting fro 12 years and not operated HAS to have some money invested into it to bring it back to life.  In the case of the Vision expect to fork out anywhere from $400-$600 just to make it road worthy.  And that is not including the engine repair that you are inquiring about.  Usually the main things that are need to be replaced after 12 years of storage are tyres, fork seals, motor oil and filter, engine coolant and possibly the hoses, fuel and vacuum lines, cleaning of the carburetors and replacement of gaskets, cleaning of gas tank and possibly relining with POR-15 or CASWELL liner, replacement of the glass fuses and holders to more modern blade type fuse and holder system, new battery, replace the starter clutch bolts (posted elsewhere), possibly clean starter and replace nose seal and the brushes, tighten clutch retaining nut (46mm nut) and bend over BOTH locking tabs, replace any bulbs (especially the OLD H4 headlight bulb), bleed the brakes and replenish with fresh DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid,  and there may be more that I forgot about.  If anyone else can see something that I forgot to mention just chime in.

Remember that NOTHING is for FREE or CHEAP.  Everything will cost something to get it fixed or done.
Keep it upright and she'll always be happy!

The rear brake stabilizer bar needs new bolts...  and there is a different kind of O ring for the starter, keeps the oil out.
