Replaced both fork oil seals today. ?Not to hard of a job at all. ?I was somewhat distressed when I drained the forks and got only about 4.5 ozs of oil out of BOTH of them COMBINED. ?(Only one seal was visably leaking) Guess that would explain why the front suspension felt so soft last season. ?Anyhow, I see the recommended fork oil is 15 weight "fork oil" for "American" RJ and RK's but 10w-30 wt SAE motor oil for "European" bikes? ?What the heck is the difference between the European and American forks?

(I must admit I used 10w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil 8.7 ozs per fork..)

Beats me ! I suspect that , at the time of printing the  respective Yamaha subsideraties  had differant opinions.
I find the 15 wt fork oil to be too stiff so i use ATF.
