Whistle?

After a 12 mile ride in around 75 degree (F) weather I arrive home and shut down the bike.  Upon removing my helmet I hear a very quiet little whistle coming from the shut down bike.  It sounds like Barbie having a tea party somewhere.  I listen hear and there and discover it's coming from the gas cap.  I remove the gas cap and the whistle stops.  Replacing the cap gets it going again within about 2 minutes. 15 minutes later the whistle was gone...whats up with that?

Actually, the gas cap is vented, and has a gasket inside the inner cap (under the part with the lock slides in it)  sounds like you just need to take it apart and lubricate the gasketts, etc, and make sure their not torn, etc.
